Pretty sure its precast. Look like a very small floor plate as well.

My guess is the shell would be precast with glass balconies. Looks like the same color combo as Leston Court.

It will fit in good, not a bad looking building.

Nice find. The sky and lights look great. That would be the Armdale Rotary lit up in the center of the picture, and is that the former Maritme Life tower (?)

Still a parking lot as of two weeks ago.

Unfortunately I forgot to clone myself before I moved out of town so I can't provide an up-to-date report.

Nothing that screamed construction a few days ago when I drove by on Joe Howe. I'll drive up next week and see if anything is on site for us.

Allnovascotia ran an article yesterday saying that the community group lost their suit in the supreme court. They said they haven't decided if they will appeal. Halef, the developer said he may counter-sue due to losses incurred by the fight and he may switch the building to apartments.

A counter-suit makes sense. If an opposition group causes a developer to lose money unjustly then they should be sued. Such frivolous law suits against developers will not go away until these opposition groups realize that there is potentially a financial penalty to their actions.

I'm surprised this is the first we've really heard a developer say it. I figured United Gulf would sue the heritage trust. Epstien was even quoted in the paper saying he would appeal again just for the purpse of slowing it down again.

Is the suit re the apartments or the IWK program? there was a news article a few weeks ago that there have been no concerns about the IWK program and that a few of the local residents are meeting regularly re the program, and that it is going well.

I assume the suit was about shadows on people's houses. And increased density.

Its hard to find a balance with this sort of thing. If there is the threat of countersuits then it might discourage people with legitimate problems from moving forward with a claim. Often people don't know if they have a case or not -- this is why there is arbitration.

My feeling is that the best solution is to have quick turnaround times and tight limits on filing (25 days for this case is good.. 6 months is unfair to developers).

In a case like that I would think a lawsuit would be justified. What a boneheaded thing to say.

It may be a bonehead thing for Epstein to have said; but it's the typical attitude of people. People in HRM (and elsewhere) still have a hard time thinking high density is a good thing.

Honestly, I hope the developer does counter sue them and take them for all they are worth. I fully agree with KPH; it's high time the developers around HRM start fighting back. I'm sure the heritage trust would be a lot quieter if all of a sudden they ended up with five lawsuits on their hands.
