In light of the mood, I'm really not convinced about the spine yet I can't finger why. I don't have a problem with the girth of the tower however, I think The Bow sans spine would appear thinner from this angle too.

The general consensus with most of the YYC forumers is that we are hoping the staircase "spine" has some nice feature lighting on it (inside it?). That would really give this typical postcard view of Calgary a nice night feature.

Without starting a new thread i was wondering what it would be like if Toronto had a height limit and Vancouver did not. how high would toronto's highest be?
how high would vancouver go?

Montreal, from a local's perspective!

All I can say about our skyline is it's a good weird.

+ Topography makes for some really interesting perspectives and photo ops. All photos were taken by myself over the past 5 months (newest first)

see my other pics @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/leftimage/
Cheers!

Well, I'm thinking Toronto's tallest would be about 5 feet tall to protect the mountain views. Vancouver's tallest, perhaps between Vancouver and Toronto's current heights.

Well, if the height limit in Toronto was 200 metres, then I'm betting that the tallest would be 200 metres. On the other hand, if the limit was 150 metres, my bet is that the tallest building would be 150 metres. It's really tough to say.

A better question may be if Toronto would have a supertall were it not for the various set height limits over the years and now the shadowing guidlines, for example, over the central business district in which FCP would need to lose about a hundred feet in order to get approval.

Of course, I'm all for compromising height for the sake of building a great city. Just saying that your assumption that Toronto doesn't have planning policies in regards to maximum heights is patently false.

Still would trade the lighting feature for more triangles. I just really like the silver outlined blue triangles

I agree, very impressive. I have never actually seen the other side of the lake from TO. I have seen it the other way around but never the New York side. Very cool.

That is actually Niagara on the Lake and St.Catherines across the lake... New York State would be on the far left where there are almost no lights.

And REALLY? You never saw that before?

I lived on the 21st floor of 545 Sherbourne 20 years ago and we could clearly see the other side of the lake and even the top of the Skylon Tower and steam rising from Niagara Falls, on most days.

I have pictures somewhere, but I'd have to scan them. I don't even own a scanner these days.

Believe it or not, it is really hard for me to see the other side of the lake....i live in Winnipeg. Like i said previously, i have only seen pictures from the southern side of the lake LOOKING at Toronto. I would love to see some more pictures from Toronto's perspective of the other shoreline, or as you have said Niagara etc.
