I went to that food court for lunch everyday in highschool. There was never a problem walking through it. Not to mention they have an alternate concourse that avoids the food court completely.

Richmond Center is hands down the best mall in the lower mainland. All great shops, no filler (stores devoted to cell phone covers and fake clothing)

the paths force you to walk through the food vendor line ups

point is i don't like the food court there - i prefer food courts shoved in a corner like coquitlam centre or lougheed town centre

anyway its a stuipid point but i HATE IT i get to self conscience walking through spaces like that i hate restaurants too the closer i can sit to the door the better

Design for New Westminster's multi-use civic facility revealed

New Westminster city council is getting its first look at the possible design of the planned Downtown multi-use civic facility.

The preliminary design concept, prepared by architecture firms Hughes Condon Marler and Musson Cattell Mackey, will be presented at the Jan. 10 council meeting.

At the corner of Eighth and Columbia streets, the city's civic facility and restaurant space will total approximately 92,000 square feet.

Developer Uptown Property Group has partnered with the city on the project and plans to construct an up-to-130,000-square-foot commercial office tower above.

In the preliminary drawings, the main lobby entrance on Eighth Street is flanked by retail space on the left and a restaurant on the right.

The mezzanine and second floor have space allocated for an art gallery, museum and teaching space, as well as storage and support, while arts function space is planned for the second and third floors.

A theatre and administration offices are also planned for the third level.

The remainder of the 11-floor building is to be office space.

Burnaby seems to be on a roll with these new proposals popping up. Which makes me wonder... when will its population exceed Vancouver if things continue the way they are, given Vancouver's often staunch opposition to these sorts of projects?

Never probably, Burnaby is far more geographically constricted with its boundaries than other municipalities, such as Surrey, in the Lower Mainland.

It comes as no surprise to me that Burnaby will likely become the first suburb to build true sky scrappers.

Gotta remember, there's a whole bunch of park in the middle of the city. Burnaby has huge chunks of non-developable land compared to most municipalities.
