^ Pearson does that too, with the Departures and Arrivals being on separate levels. It's just more efficient for moving people through the airport and terminals to and from their planes.

Vancouver's old and new airport expansion have always had the arrivals and departures on separate levels - arrivals on the bottom - departures on top

Calgary also has the departures and arrivals on separate levels.

Looking good Winnipeg, can't wait to try out that new terminal!

We here in Calgary are waiting for more renderings and plans of the new International Facilities Project: http://www.yyc.com/Default.aspx?cid=311&lang=1

This is the only rendering we have so far:

The new parallel runway (34R/16L) will be breaking ground this spring and the IFP project will not be far behind.

Thanks for the link, a few new renderings but I want to sink my teeth into some nice big ones to view. That is just more of a tease!

I agree. There is so much roof area there, it could probably be a fully-functioning farm!

Cool. After looking at that I was thinking about how the car rental companies access their lots? (Cluster of buildings south of airport) I know from my days at Hertz (looong time ago) the lot was down the service road, which now looks like its cut off from the airport?

Guess they have to go south towards McKnight then around Deerfoot or through the NE..

I never even thought about that. I would guess the rental companies are planning to move to empty lots north of Airport trail.

Plenty of room to expand north of pier D (the Westjet arm) and wrap around to the north. Also keep in mind with Barlow closed there will be that space to the east of the portion of Barlow that is staying.

Edit: Here is a quick and dirty MSpaint showing the available areas:

YEG's expansion is massive!! I think it will be double its current size, and damn impressive.

Yeah I remember seeing YEG's expansion when I was in Edmonton last...it sure has progressed a lot since I was there.

Lookin good

And Calgary's is shaping up nicely...I hope those renders become realtime soon. I remember all the progress its made from the tiny airport they started off with....now its a huge airport haha. Oh Calgary. You boom-town you.

Personally, i really like Ottawa Airport. It's so simple, and looks nice, and it's not too big, etc.

Saskatoon? You don't think Saskatoon might be a bit over-served by an airport that size?
