Here's a little update on the St. David's South Austin Medical Center expansion. It's pretty tall. It's definitely a highrise. It's actually blocking most of the view of the Frost Bank Tower from my neighborhood. I think it's 8 floors tall now. They also added 2 levels to the parking garage. I haven't checked it out yet, but the views from it should be really good. I'm pretty sure it's the tallest parking garage south of the river.
Photos from 12/12/2010.
The view of it from my neighborhood. It's just about blocked the view of downtown.
You can see what I believe is the elevator shaft here.
Some tower crane action.
From Manchaca Road. The other parking garage in the foreground is the ACC South Campus.
The hospital as seen from the ACC parking garage.
You can see The Austonian from up there, too.
The Ben White/I-35 interchange and highrises.
Hospital view from Stassney Lane between Congress & I-35.
One of the best views around South Austin.
South Austin Hospital and St. Ed's.

So....Cambridge fire.
I may consider never living about the 8th floor when I get too old to walk down stairs! ( or what ever floor "buckets and ladders" can reach by that point in time!!!)
Scary shit.
The W got their certificate for occupancy today for the 18th and 19th floors. They should have it for up to the 26th floor by friday. Residents should be moving in within the week assuming there are no holdups on closings.
Congratulations. You definitely will have one of the coolest and nicest abodes of SSP forumers! Take pictures?
Pics will be forthcoming. I hope to have the designer get in, the closet people, the electrician, and home theater guys in by the superbowl at the latest. I am just praying to god my wild ass cats can reign it in and calm down.

Awesome, how many bedrooms if you don't mind me asking? I'd love to move into a condo but so few have more than 2 bedrooms and the ones that do are way too expensive. Some of the older condo towers here in Tulsa are pushing 400K for a 3 bedroom unit.

The Cheapest 3 bedroom condos I know of Downtown are in Cambridge. And a lower floor (4th) un-renovated unit ( 1964) just sold for approx 500K.
Edit: The main picture of the current progress was to large and I didn't feel it appropriate to post it in this thread since these forums don't have a [/spoiler] tag ability that I could find. You can see it in the link.
Edit 2: Also as you can see on that Blog, Vince Young is opening a steak house at a great location right across the street from the convention center.
They broke ground. It's supposed to be done by summer of 2012.
When: The company plans to move its 350 employees in by summer 2012.
Details: Austin-based semiconductor company Cirrus Logic began construction on its new six-story, 135,000-square-foot headquarters on the western edge of downtown.

I got a 2 bedroom 2.5 bathroom. I live alone so it felt sufficient.
How you like your Savannahs, was looking into the possibility of getting one a few months back.
I have an F2 and an F5. I would recommend getting at least an F3, at the more wild levels they tend to be more work, although they definitely have that wild look to them too.
Very dog like, they like to play fetch, but get distracted. lots of energy, high jumpers. like they can get 6 feet straight up.
