I noticed the red aircraft lights atop the W tonight. I sort of like that the building is dark at night. It's a sleek building anyway, and it contributes to that.

I also noticed the red and green Christmas lights up and down 360's south facade. It looked good.

I noticed that the other day.. initially 360 was just white and red, looked like a candy cane, then they put in the green. The Austonian and Monarch are doing something similar, with the Austonian alternating between red and green and the Monarch lit up green... looks festive.

I am curious what is up with the other W lighting though; with the hotel open, I thought they might have it somewhat finished. But it still looked very much like a work in progress. Just a purple line, and not quite uniform in color.

There is alot still work in progress from that building. From what I understand the developer was pretty hell bent on meeting the opening day for the hotel and alot was left unfinished.

Yeah, I wish the Wells Fargo building would do their lights for Xmas like they used to. The Blue lighting is killing the vibe that all the other lit buildings are going for with the red and green.

I'm used to San Jac center, 301 Congress and 100 Congress not turning their lights on anymore..

FWIW, 1 American has red and green lights on the stairsteps right now.

^Yeah, but the bottom step/stair is still lit white. It looks goofy. I also wish 100 Congress would bring back either the star at the top of the "Christmas tree" (setbacks of the building) or light it with red and green. I know they can change the colors. I remember one year it was red, white and blue for the Olympics I think.

I went into the W Lobby last night - it was quite nice. I was thoroughly impressed.

Those festive holiday lights at the 360 were the fun idea of a member of our HOA board. Super-easy, super-cheap for something that can be seen from so far off. What you're seeing is literally a piece of cellophane or something like it taped to the florescent light fixtures that are always on at the south end of each floor. Thanks to Danny the maintenance man for all that taping!

I didnt get any pics of downtown on my last visit but spent the last two days biking around downtown and UT, what an amazing city to bike in. The drivers arent a holes around bikes and its just such a nice place to do some urban biking. I loved biking down Congress Ave. from the capital to the Austonian. Ugh, now I want to live in Austin even more than before. Houston is nice to bike in, but nothing like Austin and I dont think Ive seen any other city with so many bikers, other than Portland. And I went into the W, its pretty freakin sweet.

By the way, awesome photos up there.

Where was that picture taken? The one with the Zilker Tree? I was up at the Zilker Clubhouse last week, but you can only see about the top 40 feet of the Zilker Tree above the trees.

I think it might've been taken from the parking lot of Park Hills Baptist on corner of Bee Caves and Mopac.

There are no bridges being built here -other than maybe some low water crossings that are being upgraded which I'm sure you are not interested in.

Maybe he is referring to the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge extension, which is under construction right now (goes over Cesar Chavez)? Or the boardwalk (which is not under construction til next year)?
