There's a a sign announcing 120,000 sq ft of new office space in Spring 2011 at the "Renfrew Business Centre", directly adjacent to the Renfrew Millennium Line Station, and across Rupert from the Broadway Tech Centre.

I don't know how old the sign is, but I didn't notice any work had begun or if anything has changed.

Developer's website
Project plan (PDF)

Looks like a nice project

Cambie Developments

Does anyone know if there are any new condo or townhouse developments planned along Cambie between 12th and 41st? Would be nice to see something built around King Edward or 16th and Cambie. Oakridge development towers is planned but that's years away.

Theres a vacant lot on Main and King Ed, wonder whats going in there. It would also be nice to see development on the Oak and King Edward Safeway site (parking underground, retail at grade and 2 residential towers erected).

That sign's been up for months...I guess the project's been delayed? There definitely hasn't been any work done on the site. I go to school at the "phase one" AI building so I'll definitely post about it as soon as something happens.

With the Safeway site at Granville & 71st getting redeveloped and creating NIMBY outrage in the area, I think Safeway will be slow to redevelop all of their properties. Maybe they will have to wait a few years after Granville & 71st is finished to let the NIMBY flames burn out before announcing the next property redevelopment West of Main St. Maybe they'll do the redevelopments in a "West Side, then East side, then West Side, then East side ... &tc" pattern to let NIMBYs in one area cool off for a few years before the next project gets announced.

As long as the stores are profitable, there's not much pressure to redevelop the properties.

Safeway wouldn't become landlords, they would sell off the land if they own itand lease back space, or maintain ownership of only their stratified space. I wouldn't be surprised to see most Safeways and other big boxes in residential areas not do the same within the next couple of decades.

The site was leveled back in late June.

dleung posted some information on it here: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showpost.php?p=4886221&postcount=2095 in this discussion.
