Damn, I'm on tour for 6 months and they only manage to complete 4 whole floors?

What gives? Is this still on schedule or what? It looks awesome, and I'm impatiently waiting for the completed project.

Actually they've finished 5 and the top floor is more then double height, so really its more than 6, which is almost 10% of the building. It has been speeding up as of late too.

They got it up to a floor a week. Also, both lobbies (main/concourse) have large areas blocked off with drywall. I'm curious how it will turn out as I quite like the marble wall cladding.

They spent a lot of time at the top during the beginning getting used to the way they were doing it.
That sign took a while too as the panels around it has to be made to fit around the irregular shapes. That and it was more area they were covering at the top.

This is the tie deck. Of the three decks it's the one in the middle that bolts the SEP to the building in about four or five hundred locations. The steel arms are the turnbuckles that attach to the tie plates.

A close-up of the new glass panels. The little white triangles are kind of irridescent in natural light.

Wind monitor. There are one on each side of the SEP, and one in each hoist. Wind speed is updated every three or so seconds and info is sent to laptops in the offices on the ground. (Well, our ground, which is the podium roof at the 3rd. or 4th. floor of the building.) If the wind speed or updraft gets too high everybody is pulled off the SEP and sent down due to safety. I think we cap out at 46 kmh.

If anyone has a specific request let me know. I always keep my camera with me. Otherwise I'll just post whenever I see something cool.

Already it's a major improvement. I would like to see this tower in person when it's not dark outside. Maybe I will go there this Friday and get somes photos.

Even though the last picture makes the tiles look sea-foam green, if you check the other pictures above you can clearly see the new tiles are white.

Even though they are white, they do have a green-blue tint, depending on the angle of the light.

The new tiles that is. As you can see, even the picture where the tiles appear green, the old tiles still look white. Therefore we now there is a bit of a colour effect going on here.

I was waiting for everyone to jump on Cal for not having a correct white balance on his camera. However, if you scroll down to the bus in the picture, you can see its roof is a true white (for that lighting) and the cladding on FCP is fairly minty in comparison.

This cladding always shows its greenish colour in indirect lighting, either on cloudy days or on the shadowed side during a sunny day. Obviously the randomness of the light entering the glass layer, is scattered at various angles, enhancing the glass' contaminants and imperfections. Where as on sunny days, the direct light reflecting off the white under-layer, overpowers the green and shows up white.

It's still a vast improvement and a nicer look.

I gotta say in indirect lighting I prefer the look of the dirty old marble over the glass. That green actually makes me feel ill, even if it is only part time. Thankfully I don't live in Toronto.

I'm thankful for that too. I wouldn't want to accidentally run in to you while your feeling ill after seeing some green glass. Good to know that's not a possibility.
