The cauldron will be re-lit again this Thursday around 8:30 am to 12:30PM for Remembrance day.

Thanks a lot for the shots of the dockwork on the North side of West Convention Center. Out of sight out of mind. I had forgotten about that project. I saw the piles and concrete platform installed ages ago and then nothing. It is really good to see that one progressing.

The very early morning Remembrance day ceremony at Jack Poole Plaza. The cauldron was re-lit and then was extinguished at 12:30 noon. Also a few clips from the Victory Square ceremony.

I can't help but think how much better the cc will look once that ugly service floor at the bottom is covered up by some mega yachts.

The marina is going on the north side of the convention centre right? I think covering the east side wouldn't be a bad idea too.

The new benches close to Canada place is almost done.
I hope they add the roof soon.

the float plane terminal is going on the north side - the marina is the west side? unless its east if the float plane terminal that doesn't leave much room though

The dimensions of the concrete part do look different than they were before...
(i.e. Waders had commented in a post that the concrete was being removed and new forms made)
PLus there's a new horizontal seam in the finished product that wasn't there in the earlier shot.

This is a slightly off topic question, but the photos prompted it so here goes:

Does sealed concrete have the same appearance of being wet in the rain as bare/architectural concrete?

Recalling from my memory, sealed concrete looks the same wet as dry. The water wicks off like goretex instead of soaking in like cotton

That is correct, the sealant prevents water from entering it so it's appearance doesn't change. The type of sealant used would determine if the concrete appears wet all the time or not.

For such a prominent location those planters should be clad in granite, or some other stone, instead of bare concrete.

It's a shame that the overpass to the seaplane terminal doesn't appear to be very level or straight. It could just be the photograph, however.

Cool video, thanks for posting! It's really interesting to see how they put up the new sails.

And they don't look all that beige as was posted a while back (remember the whole "sun bleaching" debate)

I think it's the lens on my camera. It's a Panasonic Lumix TZ2 and it has a somewhat wide angle Leica lens.
