Ok so I was doing a little catching up on the Saporta Report, a local blog, and I have some beef. Here is the link to the blog:
Saporta Report
Her most recent entry details the annual Golden Shoe Awards hosted by PEDS to provide awareness about pedestrian stuff. It all sounds fine and dandy, but all the awards were given to stupid "DUH" studies and nothing tangible. Well I take that back, out of 7 awards, 1 was given to GSU for widening a sidewalk. The first award was given to the ARC for conducting a study to show that people walk to transit stops and from transit stops. DUH DUH DUH!!! They needed a study for that? And how much money did that study cost? There were 5 more studies that were equally dumb that received awards so read away for either a laugh or to make you angry.
She then has a few bla articles and a few good ones, so read through those.
Finally she talks about the new bond issuance to help fund the new Maynard Jackson International Terminal. I'm not being an angry white guy when I say that I'm tired of saying Hartsfield-Jackson Int'l Airport, and so I ask the question now: Now that Maynard Jackson is memorialized through a multi-billion dollar international terminal, can we drop the Jackson name off the airport just to make our lives easier? If not, he will have his name on the airport and the terminal and it just seems redundant. I don't know many figures that are able or even worthy to have their name on TWO great great entities such as these, let alone entities that are already related. Just saying.
