Take a look at the aerial view, and you'll realize it's not exactly a big distance to bridge, especially with some of the industrial development filling in along Highway 1. White City, Pilot Butte, the RM of Edenwold (including Emerald Park) and I believe even Balgonie are banding together to form the White Butte Region, and I think that their combined efforts will act as a magnet. I don't see it as out of the realm of possibility that in 30 years the region and the city of Regina will have grown into each other. It's not like the distance between Regina and Moose Jaw.

I agree. Since 1977, I watched the southeast part of own expand eastward from the Ring Road between Victoria and Assiniboine Avenues. It took 33 years for those neighbourhoods to achieve what we see today. Moreover, as any typical city expands concentrically, it takes an increasingly longer period of time to build-up subdivisions for any given distance.

In order to have White City/Emerald Park to join(?) with Regina, that would be a 75-some-odd year aspiration.

If the Ring Road was the edge of the city in 1977 (I don't know if it was, I'm just assuming), then in the past 33 years Regina has expanded 3 km east to the edge of the Regina Memorial Gardens. In reality the city goes out further with the industrial business and Greens on Gardiner.

It is 7.3 km from the Regina Memorial Gardens to the edge of White City. With Clear Vistas potentially expanding east of Emerald Park that 7.3 could quickly shrink. Hell, from the Brandt sales building to the edge of White City is only 4.0 km.

They're already in our metro. Its only a matter of time before they join the city.

It will happen, eventually, but not for a couple dozen years at the earliest. While the city is expanding, it isn't spreading like rapid fire by any means.

Newsflash... I just heard that the ground floor tenant for the building pictured below that is under construction in Canterbury on Broad is a second Rock Creek Tap and Grill. I think that will be a great addition to the development.

I was also told a "We Proudly Brew Starbucks coffee" type coffee shop will be opening in that building as well, kind of like Common Ground in the U of R.

From what I know there is nothing in Canterbury Park that is senior specific! Let's hope that tower comes together.

The building that is nearing completion is a seniors complex. However, that is not being developed by Fiorante. They sold that piece off.

The rest of the site is market condos and not senior specific. And yes, you can pretty much guarantee a restaurant will be going in at that corner unit.

College Park Retirement Residence is on the far east side of the site. The rest should be pretty urbane. It is a huge site.

Yep. The Starbucks in Chapters unionized and so Starbucks has put a moratorium on building any more Starbucks in the city. They refuse to even look at franchising offers, they want nothing to do with our city anymore. The only safe place for Starbucks now are inside of Safeways where the Safeway union protects the workers.

Total Joke. Complete fail. We had 3 weeks of perfect weather in October when absolutely nothing was being done at this site. Now the businesses and commuters in the area have to suffer the consequences.

Agreed. Living in Saskatoon, people are always shocked when I tell them there aren't really any Starbucks in Regina. I would prefer the variety any day!
