Five Guys is pretty good, but if you're around that part of town, I'd suggest going to Rocky's Burger Bus instead.

Speaking of Burger joints jumping the border... Carl's Jr was supposed to open restaurants in BC & Alberta a couple of years ago and never did, wonder what's up with that?

El Pollo Loco was also thinking about coming up here but put their plans on hold due to the US economy.

Carl's Jr. is just another Burger King/Wendy's/McDonalds.

I second that. Stumbled across that place/bus a month ago and was glad I swung in.

Not as much as you might think- www.carlsjr.com. Much bigger menu- CJ/Hardee's are more like Jack in the Box, nothing really like it in Canada.

I've only had Carl's Junior once, and wasn't overly impressed with the quality. It's difficult to do a large menu properly in a regular restaurant, let alone in a fast food situation. I'm not a big fan of In and Out burger, either though... they keep their menu simple and do an excellent job of representing a fresh, home-cooked mom and pop middle-american hamburger, but that kind of bland food is not my cup of tea.

If we have to have more fast food restaurants, I'd be more interested in seeing something like a Chipotle Mexican Grill come here.

According to Urban Outfitter's website, their store is opening tomorrow at Chinook Centre.

I don't mind CJ burgers, but what I do love which isn't up here is Jack n' the Box breakfast sandwiches!

McDonalds single or double cheeseburgers are still my greasy little fastfood burger of choice... just like they were when I was young.

Damn, I wish I wasn't working, I'd like to see hundreds of hipsters both simultaneously pouring into the store yet looking disinterested at the same time.

Indeed. I have a good number of childhood memories at Carl's Jr, it was always a treat when we were on the West Coast.

Damn, you reminded me of yet another chain I long for up here.

Maybe I've just never hit the right Carl's Jr. I've never seen anything remotely close to Jack's menu there. Just burgers, fries, chicken burger, fries, and a couple of salads. Mind you, the last Carl's I went to was in Culver City. I'll leave the joke for the folks that know.

Looks like I'll be able to try out Carl's Jr and Chipotle's when I'm in philly next week. Sadly no white castle though, unless I figure out a way to expense a 2 hr round-trip cab ride to Atlantic City.

Instead of fast food to fill the stomach here and there i have been sticking to local restaurants.......MUCH better. See which one you can discover today! Plus, a typical A&W or Wendy's meal is almost the same price as some of the affordable, tasty restaurants we have in the core / chinatown. Dont get me wrong, I love a good burger meal for around $10.00, but recently I have been making other choices and paying about $11 or $12 instead.

Go support a local restaurant instead of a double-down......

Well, Rocky's is about as local as it gets. That's why I love that place....great food and it's local ownership.

Made it a point to find a White Castle last time I was in Manhattan... fuck was it gross, never again!

I'll be ordering an In & Out burger next week in Vegas.

You should only ever eat White Castle during or after a night of drinking/partying. For some reason, it really hits the spot in that instance (not unlike Denny's).

White Castle is a strange beast. Nobody thinks it's good, but it has this weird ability to get its hooks in you....and once you have a few you get this urge to go back for more.
