No one said that at all, in fact we haven't heard anything about base cladding. GreenwichBoy (WNY) seems to think it might be going forward soon....

The Earthcam does appear to show some cladding on site, but I could be wrong.

Well it doesn’t look like they are putting anything up, just possibly a piece of cladding sitting there. You're good for now.

It does make we wonder where all those trucks with cladding are hiding? They left Portland about 10 days ago... Must be hanging about on the Jersey side of the GW Bridge somewhere...

I would say the cladding is probably going to some kind of holding facility in New York or New Jersey. They probably have to sort it all out and what needs to go first and last...that could take some time. And of course we don't even know what's going on with the base cladding, that could be coming too.

No, that's not cladding at all. That's a concrete layer on top of those yellow I-beams they've inserted between all the corner gaps. That corner has looked like that for weeks now

The first of the curtain wall sections for the office floors are sitting in a bonded warehouse somewhere in the tri-state area. (I don't know exactly where.)

The cladding for the base is still weeks if not months away. They only just started installing the brackets to support it. (That's what the pic that GB took that Onn posted shows, all those little white squares are stainless steel brackets.)

Probably the last part of the base cladding to go up is the very bottom, for two reasions. One it's supported by the protection walls, that are not up yet. and Two they really don't want to enclose the lobby just yet, it would really hinder access.

The base is 186' 8" high (20th floor, first office floor) All the office floors are 13' 4".

There, that'll get ya to the 88th floor.

Anyone else looking to model this thing (and couldn't figure it out mathematically like I did) will probably find that extremely useful. See, if all of the floors are identical, you don't have to worry about a weird unit of measurement like that, you just take the chamfer per floor and scale that up the tower (which conveniently can be automated), which is pretty much what I did with the white floors below. With the gray ones, since they all have random heights (BIG THANKS to my info hookup, you know who you are), I apply the factor calculated above to figure out the right angle, as shown in the 2nd image. The net result: A an edge mathematically accurate by 1/1000 of an inch.

That's just a W14x ***, a relativly small column section compaired to the columns lower down in the building.

The "jumbo columns" are W14x730 with a 6 inch thick plate welded to both sides.

(I have no idea what column line the column in the pic is on, but I think it's a W14x650. Actually I know exactly what it is, I just don't want to say.)

hey zensteeldude, are the w-size columns going to stay the same size to the top?

by the way...i'm currently a civil engineering major...those columns are awesome!
