Global seems to have more updated results than CTV..

CTV has just gone off the air, online only now until 11pm. Dancing with the stars gets priority unfortunately.

Seriously though, only election nerds care at this point. There's literally nothing to report right now anyway.

Oh, and Nenshi went from 13% to 18% in about 5 minutes. I love early returns.

Ugh Barb is leading in the polls early on. If she wins I'll cry.

I will not be that disappointed if Higgins wins. I am not a fan of candidacy based on name recognition and little else but continuing Bronconnier's policies definitely would not be the worst thing to happen to this city.

I am a great deal more worried about certain aldermanic campaigns. With Chapman and McCutcheon leading in 9 and 11 we could see a shift away from urbanism on council. Trading Ceci and Pincott in for those two would shift the balance of council towards the PGIB faction. Hopefully Carlo-Carra and Pincott start pulling in some votes.

Of course it is still really early so I'm not going to start sweating for a bit here.

Now Nenshi's staff are already sounding like they lost.

The percentage of polls reporting is not the same as the percentage of total votes. Expect well over 200,000 total votes cast -- now divide what has been counted so far by that number.

I'm not saying he's won it -- just that these numbers are insignificantly small and we don't know what polls they're coming from.

Sorry for the pile-on and repetition of other people's arguments -- I just wanted to respond directly as your response was directed at me.

As someone else pointed out to me just now, let's also wait until the NE reports.

Oh, and hardly anyone has reported. I know they say "10%" but that's not by vote count, it's by polls reporting. Supposedly over 110,000 people voted by 4pm today (so the total will be MUCH higher than this), 10% would be 10,000 people. The total numbers so far hardly add up to 1,000. That's not even 1%.

Final PS: the City website has more up to date numbers than Global. They're higher numbers anyway, so I assume that means more accurate at this point.

The City website had better be more accurate and up-to-date, since the City Election Office is certifying the official count at each polling station. These numbers are being fed to all the media as they are released by the elections office.

The general trend of Higgins in first, McIver in close second, and Nenshi in solid third seems to be consistent so far. I wonder how long it will hold up, but its interesting how there hasn't been any serious fluctuations yet.

You'd hope so, but I've seen many, many elections where the official numbers from the city/province/feds are released to the media, and then the "official" website gets updated as much as an hour later. It's always amused me.

Nenshi is already up to 20% in the few (6, exactly) minutes since I posted that.

Shaw (channel 10) is still providing TV coverage. CTV and Global are still providing coverage in online streaming video.

Yeah - we have 5,500 out of 250,000 counted at this point. BTW - Nenshi has jumped from 10% to 25% at this point. Means nothing however wouldn't it be interesting if the numbers trend just like the campaign.
