Also, no matter what happens on Monday, we'll all be able to take comfort a week later when this guy isn't our mayor:

Now TDOW can go crawl back into his hole and write crazy things in the Herald comments.
It shouldn't require structural changes but it depends on how wide of a net is being cast by the legislation and how the home is jerry rigged. I've seen a house turned into three illegal suites, there was one furnace amongst a multitude of other issues, and the modifications, clearly half assed by the slumlord owner, affected a number of structural elements to the detriment of the buildings integrity. Of course I imagine most secondary suites are going to remain illegal. The structures will not have proper modifications initiated; many suites will not be in owner occupied dwellings. The benefit will come from making it more difficult for nosy neighbours to have them investigated and shut down. The fact that they are substandard contributes a great deal to why they are so affordable.

I don't know about anyone else but if Ford wins I am going to have so much fun rubbing it in certain friends' faces. The concept of schadenfreude just seems so much more attractive when it isn't our misfortune that others derive pleasure from.

Unfortunately, they were the only ones I happened to see. However, they didn't pan out to the crowd very often.

In the UK, planning permission is only needed for changes that are considered development. I'd say this is akin to structural changes so for some perspective, this is how development is defined in the UK:

That was probably my sister and I. Never got on the jumbotron though, I'm pretty sure they were actively avoiding any political stuff getting up on the screen.

There were at least 8 of us at the game in the Nenshi shirts, not sure about anyone else though.

We were on top of the Stampede LRT station from about 6:15 to just before game time handing out Nenshi flyers. Joe Connelly and a few volunteers were there too but we had a secret weapon...Littletime. Who isn't going to take a flyer from a cute little 16 month old? Suck it Joe.

@Bigtime - Good job representing. Need to get the purple army more mobilized though. I issued a call to arms by sending photos of yourself wearing your purples on Twitter, but it hasn't caught on.

Man - Rob Ford. What a lunatic. Anyway, it looks like George Smitherman is catching up, and other candidates have dropped out - so there's at least a chance Ford will lose.

Announcement at Ric McIver's office at 9am today, I'm assuming it is Burrows endorsing him.

Edit: Apparently Burrows announcement is at 11am, my wild guess is Connelly is bowing out and throwing his "support" behind Ric.

I'm not sure why Rob Ford got so upset there. Like he's not a fat fuck?

This attack ad from Winnipeg civic election made me lol.

Ric McIver is dropping out, and endorsing Oscar Fech.

I edited my post above with my wild card guess. Connelly out and supporting Ric.

Gee, that should really help him. Maybe he asked her for the presser because originally the 11am Burrows endorsement was going to go to him, but now it's for someone else. Wanted to preemt to show that someone is endorsing him. Just a theory.

Maybe Burrows is supporting Connelly. "Hey, anyone who can beat me in Ward 6 is good enough to be mayor".

I think Nenshi can capitalize on DCU supporting McIver, it continues to perpetuate the feeling that nothing will change down at city hall if he is elected. Clearly it is business as usual.
