My apologies for coming into this late, but I heard something on the radio this morning radio about a three way tie? I thought Nenshi was further down at 10% or something?

I think Wayne Stewart has probably lead the most respectable campaign in Calgary. I think if the candidate field hadn't been as crowded, he would have been politically viable.

In other interviews with Burrows, McCourt calls the candidate a "loser"
The tone of both interviews was similar but the the substance of the questions in each was very different. Nenshi received show off confrontational, faux serious journalist, questions attacking his policy. Higgins received show off confrontational, faux serious journalist, questions attacking her motivation and (former) campaign staff. I think she was entirely justified in taking offence. Insulting the people that volunteered for her crossed a line.

Unless you know that person, you don't know why McCourt would see it as a bad move to enlist them.

Oh, I've heard things but there is a proper time and place to attack someone. A cheap shot with no context during an interview with a former employer just does not suffice.

I thought McCourt's questions were a bit out of line. Higgins had every right to feel railroaded by that and fire back. However, that's not an excuse for chewing out a bunch of volunteers from ArtsVote that occured after.
Yeah, just watched it. Who at city tv thought Mike McCourt was the right guy for these interviews. That guy's crazier than Oscar Fech, and pretty representative of the Newspaper commenter demographic. He's sort of informed on the issues, but the conclusions he draws leap out of the realm of sanity pretty quickly.

Higgins' mistake was not being dismissive enough of his line of questioning.

and if McCourt was any kind of journalist, the viewer wouldn't be left wondering why.

The SE LRT needs to be built in it's entirety to be viable, and as far as I know, that's the plan.
She needs to visit Foothills Industrial park between 4:30pm and 6:00pm. She clearly has never been there during rush hour. It is a zoo and is horrendous for the working class that need to be there to make an honest living. This type of thing can actually hurt her in the demographic that is most behind her IE the low to mid-level educated folks, many of whom who may be working in that part of town.

Wayne is definitely a good guy - one of the few in the field that has actually done some down and dirty work at the grassroots level as opposed to the teleprompter / emcee station

Other gems: She doesn't support the SE LRT because it's not viable until it's 2/3eds of the way into the SE (no population base in central calgary). Does she understand nothing about transit? Of course there's no population in the industrial parks! The point is to get people from the periphery of the city to work.

Also, when asked about the airport tunnel being a waste because it only serves 10% of the city population she literally went "Oh... Next question please" and stalled for a good minute before giving a straight answer.
This Roger fellow is actually asking some of the best tough questions I've heard so far. He should have asked though, as mayor what she would do if a big suburban developer showed up at her office and started asking for some value for their donation. When it comes to campaign financing this is is the question that has been ignored.

From QR77

Wayne Stewart has confirmed he is "suspending further campaigning" in his bid to be Calgary's mayor. Stewart says he will support Naheed Nenshi, saying he's known him for a while and their priorities "align". Stewart made the announcement at a news conference Thursday morning.

Rick Bell is all but endorsing Nenshi these days.

Also, sounds like McIver is getting pretty desperate lately.

^^^ Speaking of which, do newspapers still endorse candidates? If so any guesses as to when they might do so?

McIver is about to have a stroke. He thought this was going to be a cakewalk and now he has a very good chance of being unemployed.

I've mentioned this before, but I'm blown away by all the pro Nenshi comments in The Sun and The Herald. The few comments that support the other two, come across as being uninformed.

I appreciate a Wayne Stewart endorsement of Nenshi. Especially coming from someone has spent so much time on charitable issues.

Ric McIver hasn't received any endorsements from any of the candidates he ran against. Is Ric McIver politically viable?

I don't think he is going to be a responsible financial steward for the city, has no vision, and doesn't represent the broad social and demographic contents of the city either.

McIver's latest attacks are baseless (the whole attack about Nenshi wanting to end single family homes illustrates his idiocy), and he is trying to hold onto what little support he has left by making up fringe attacks that are untrue about his candidates. Even Oscar Fech is making more sense...

As a matter of fact he did. That's where she brought up her "TWO PAGE!" policy on transparency. She also was unaware of who had made donations to her campaign.

Check it out here: http://www.x929.ca/shows/theshow/?p=6912

The developer questions are a couple minutes into the second clip of the interview.

"unaware" is a bad word to be using in a campaign

With all this momentum Nenshi keeps building now it`s a matter of people that support him to go out and vote. So all you people here who live in Calgary and want Nenshi to be Calgary`s next mayor GO VOTE!!
