midtown seems to be expanding west and south(south of42nd stret)(towards the empire state building). this is great, but midtown will need a new signiture tower, the empire state building will be enveloped by new buildings.

CTBUH states a new height for this tower: 194.55 meter / 638.29 feet !

I always suspected it... it just didn't look that much taller than the orion(604ft).

yeah, and the thing is that the final "build- out" (left on the render) is still missing. for now, the tower only has the black / gray box which brings us to 195m. anyways, i don't have much hope that this building will reach the 204m mark because the crane is already down

Related always said the rendering was quite accurate.

Any tower at least 600 feet in height is still rather tall. Don't see what the real complaint here is. I think it looks better with the flat roof.

for me, it's "very" important because skyscrapers over 200m belong to the elite group. NY has currently 52 skyscrapers over 200m completed and T/O respectively. if this tower hits the 200m mark, then the city would have 53, just one missing to catch up with HK (54). btw #1 is dubai with 56 buildings. i guess americans don't care for those rankings that much, because they use FT instead of M.
