The odd thing there is, #10 is a response to #1. In fact, #10 should not even be on the list as it is a specific example, whereas 1-3 are thematic areas.

I like it. Unfortunately this type of poll is silly as it is honesty as opposed to business acumen and social awareness. We'd like to hope that we get someone who can have all three. Perhaps it should have been a tick three out of ten type of survey. I think when you look at a blend of those top three, the candidate list really thins out.

It was published in the media. Additionally, it is well known that the two actually know each other pretty well. When Kent Hehr said he was running, people even speculated that Nenshi may not. On some respects, they are from the same cloth - though I've always been a Nenshi supporter for the raw intelligence, public engagement and stick your neck out and say what you think aspects (though certainly Kent also says what he thinks).

Hehr had recently launched a punchy billboard campaign that said, "a bullet can't stop him nothing can." Hehr is reported to have put his support behind Naheed Nenshi, who filed his nomination papers shortly after 10 a.m.

Nenshi filed his papers to a chorus of applause this morning, after taking city transit from the McKnight Westwinds LRT station in Calgary's northeast.

Nenshi said it's a three horse race, and although he realizes he's the third in that group, behind McIver and Barb Higgins, he still believes he has a solid chance of winning, noting in a media scrum after delivering his nomination papers that both Edmonton and Toronto have mayors that were not originally front runners in their contest.

High profile mayoralty candidate Kent Hehr has dropped out of the race for Calgary's mayor. He made that announcement this morning. He had recently unveiled what he called bullet ads as part of his campaign. The billboards read: "A bullet can't stop him. Nothing can. Vote Hehr for Mayor." The "bullet" is in reference to a shooting in October 1991 that left Hehr a paraplegic at age 22. Early reports say although he's not officially throwing his support behind any candidates, he is apparently more impressed with Naheed Nenshi's platform than Ric McIver's.

He's not throwing his support behind any specific candidate, but says he has been impressed with Naheed Nenshi.

Derek McKenzie dropped out of the race for the mayor's chair.

The Herald has learned the 38-year-old single dad, who works in finance for a utility company, does not want to put strain on his young family.

McKenzie, however, did throw his political backing behind candidate Naheed Nenshi.

No sign for us, that would be against condo bylaws! Plus I'm not too sure it would be very visible up on the 26th floor. However we have our Nenshi car magnets on our cars, and Mrs. Bigtime puts a Nenshi for Mayor sign on her back window of her car when it is parked, every resident driving into the building sees her car as they enter the parking.
