Seriously, everyone needs to get out and vote for that thing. It's horrible timing (this Nov) for a bond package having to do with pedestrian and bicycle improvements, it will need all the help it can get.
The boardwalk should have been done long ago. It's a shame that Austin's crown jewel (and possibly the finest amenity the city has) is essentially incomplete.
Oh, and as always -- beautiful pics priller, thanks. Made my day. Two things I've really wanted to see lately: the courthouse progress, and the W from the angle that's recently been discussed on this thread (corner view of the ACL entrance). So I guess the video screen and all that glass above the entrance is gone.
They are really cool photos. And nice job of not bumping up the contrast too much. So many people these days don't know how to use Photoshop filters and adjustments with subtlety.
Thanks, guys. I've resisted the HDR trend for a long time. While I like a lot of HDR photos -- and they can be very dramatic if done well -- most of the time they seem overdone, imho. But lately I've been playing with some new filters -- Topaz Adjust and Topaz Detail -- more for the purpose of bringing out more detail in photos than going full-blown HDR.
The last shot of the Frost Tower I used Topaz Detail just a tad to make it look a little more gritty. The Guaranty Finance building shot is more HDR-like, probably more than I like, but the original photo was quite dull so I think it helped in this case.
Alright, sooooo.............. I see the greenwater treatment plant site has a huge hole dugged out. What does that mean? Has the redevelopment begun? :confused:
No, they've been digging holes and filtering the concrete, large rocks and rebar out of the dirt for months. After they finish with a hole, they refill it and restart the process. At the rate they're going, it seems like it will they still have a long way to go before it's a dirt lot.
Does anyone know what the 2 small cranes are for at the corner of Riverside and South First (basically in front of the Long Center). Is it some kind of new sign/marquee?
