i gave up on the 200m view cones, things need to be at least 250m to feel like a skyscraper in dt...that's like 20 floors more than shangri-la, which is modest...

Holy shit some of you guys are hard to impress! It's not enough to get a new tallest but then a couple of years later you get a new second tallest building (this thing) and you guys still aren't happy!

I'll tell you this, if I lived in Vancouver I i'd be very happy with all the recent skyscrapers going up.

ppl cried when this thing was haulted, or cancelled for the time being, and then cried for its glass style and height, now crying for what...what is there to cry for, man, i think my taste has gone up after this one's done...u gota have one like this around 150m every yr or so...

This building is absolutely boring on three sides. I don't even know where to view the good side. Stanley Park? You can't even see it from the street. I'd think it was another Cheng abortion if I didn't see photos here.

One interesting side is better than none, but I don't get all the excitement over this one.

I don't get how you can compare this to anything by Cheng...Ok, not every side is curved or has interesting design features, but as a whole it works really well. It's got a great massing, nice color glass and fits really well into its surroundings.

Agreed that three sides are boring. Maybe the reason for that, in part, is to draw more attention to the one elegant, outstanding side. (well ... you gotta think of everthing) ...

That's totally unfair - even if the sides are simple slabs the quality and appearance of the glass, the details, the vertical massing. . .all are far superior to most anything Cheng designs. Just because a building isn't a hovering sphere or shaped like an exploding firework doesn't mean it can't have seriously nice details.

I was at Portside park yesterday and was struck by how appealing Jameson's north and east elevations are from that vantage point. It definitely sticks out - in a good way!
