my guess is they think its to valuable for developers to pass up
they just want a developer to foot the bill like they did in
the very old old days
heres another article

in 5 yrs if its still sitting empty i'm sure they will change there minds

I hate the Greek housing because it looks like shit from a design perspective and especially in the materials. It pays zero respect to the surrounding buildings and sticks out like sore thumb.

I have yet another romantic idea that state could buy that building and turn it into a frat house, and the other building across the street on Auburn with the big columns and turn that into one (as its in a sort of Greek style). But It'll never happen.
I think you see my point.

I will agree with you to a point, but the architecture could be a whole lot worse. Compare them to most GSU buildings that were constructed in the 70s (i.e Library North, GCB), and they are a lot better. Ar least the townhomes have some variation in material and detail, although the EIFS does indeed suck.

I wish they had been built to the quality of Renaissance Walk or even the new freshman dorms.

I wish GSU would buy Renaissance Walk!!

Soon, Georgia State's campus will extend from the Connector to Centennial Park, from MLK to Baker Street. Here's hoping anyway!!

When the Federal government grants funds for the East-West Streetcar line (late December of this year), GSU will be hopping as streetcars travel along Edgewood and Auburn avenues carrying students and tourist from cultural attractions on both ends of downtown.

GSU will have an entertainment district smack dab in the middle of their ever-expanding university.

There will NOT be an empty lot along Edgewood or Auburn avenue in about 4 to 6 years...

Looks like they're finally starting this project in the old CVI at Peachtree & 4th. Building permits are up and they fenced all the way to the corner. Yippee

Uh, according to 2008 Census estimates, it's already there. In fact, it's 40,000 past there.

Well I'm sad that I did not get a chance to make it to GSU's 1st game, but it looks to be off to a good start. 41-7 win and over 30,000 fans...WOW!!!

Go GSU!

At the rate the school is growing and all the new housing that they plan to add I hope to see this number steadily increase. This is great news for all of downtown especially with the Falcons threatening to leave and all.

The Falcons are not THREATENING to leave downtown... The GWCC has offered land on their CAMPUS (which includes all of the vacant land surrounding the GWCC), for the Falcons to build an open-air or dome stadium.

I don't think Arthur Blank is going to relocate to the northern suburbs while leaving tens of MILLIONS of dollars on the table.

Arthur Blank is a gangsta -and gangstas love being in the city - not in the burbs...

Blank is a badass. He does look like he's broken a few knee caps in his day.
