I stumbled upon this site yesterday because I wanted to see what kind of progress is doing with One World Trade Center. Even though I only live 20 miles outside Manhattan...I rarely make into the city.

I'm AMAZED of the amount of the up to date photos and the KNOWLEDGE that is on this site.

This site has now made it into my "favs".

Thank you...and please keep up the GREAT work!!!

Welcome to the site! Even though I don't contribute much, in knowledge or photography, it sure is fun to look through all the information from our fellow contributors

I wandered past the site today with something a little better than my iphone and thought I'd capture some of the scale of the tower and give a sense of these guys working in some really scary places...

This is the tower from the West Side with the thrid crane now in position:

An HDR image from the North East corner entry gate.

36 Stories up and these guys are running around the fresh Steel... Must be a great view from up there!

The third crane on the North West Corner in the final stages of preparation...

I caught a couple of people wandering along the crane arm as they continue to set it up.

These shots are of workers on the West side of the Tower working around the base 20 Stories:

It's amazing watching these guys work in 90 degree heat, wearing heavy fireproofs and sitting out in the full sun on wooden boards sticking precariously out of the steel framework...

and a few from the Jersey side of the Hudson:

The river taxi goes from WFC to Paulus Hook (one of my favorite ways to commute) where the views of the City are spectacular:

More from my wander at the following address:

This is the 911 memorial on the Jersey side of the Hudson. The statue is from the site and the steel is from the original towers.

Well worth going to see. I may try and post the details as the statue has an amazing story...

Here's one of my September 11 images from the same place...

How'd double check get to that side of the river? I thought the statue was still in Liberty Plaza.

I'm sure he is hot. Lifting iron and walking so much sure brings the sweat pouring out.

It's amazing how tall and dominant Woolworth remains downtown.

By the way, is that fireproofing cover on the 30th floor? Which way are they doing this?

This is the first time that I've looked at this thread and really felt I was seeing a tower. Can't wait for this thing to be completed; it's gonna look amazing!

So random question and maybe this isn't the thread for it.

Are they going to reopen Greenwhich street? and is there going to be a LIRR running to the WTC from JFK?

I know these were both planned at some point but have not really kept up with it.
