Bullocks Wilshire | 241 FT | 1929 | Los Angeles

Without question, one of the greatest buildings ever constructed by the hand of man. Probably my favorite building in Los Angeles as it is the pinnacle of Los Angeles rich history of art deco buildings. It's just beautiful. Truly beautiful. They really don't make them like this anymore. Majestic, marvelous, powerful, luxurious, stunning, emphatic, graceful.

Great proportions! I didn't think 241 ft was accurate until the second last picture. It hides it well.

I am guessing all the detailing to the building is copper? Which usually I am okay with it going green like this, but this building would look so much more amazing if it were polished up.

The green is indeed copper. And I actually like the dated look of the copper. Gives the building a lot of character.

I agree with that, but if it was polished that building would really glow in the sunlight. I just think that would be just as amazing to see, but with copper I tend to like it either way.

It is a great building. I remember walking in there when the store was still open and it was a very special place to shop.

I've seen it dozens of times over the years and have always been impressed...but sadly I've never taken a really close look at it.

Cool 'unknown' LA building (at least to the outside world)
