I don't know much about Barb Higgins' positions, but I wouldn't discount her at all. Look at what happened with Ralphie. Also, there are rumors that Rod Love is to be helping Barb Higgins' campaign. If that's true, then it could be very interesting.

I'm glad to see Nenshi at least on the radar. I don't think he'll win, but I'm voting for him, and the more votes he gets the better. Even if he doesn't win it will show that there are a number of people who side with him on his ideas.

This kind of polling is such crap. It really doesn't mean anything.

EDIT: Ha, the total number of votes is 25. I voted twice! I represent 8% of all Calgarians. Fantastic.
Naheed Nenshi is now back in 2nd with 27% of the vote. I wonder if my 3 votes helped with that

I just looked at the poll again and Nenshi now has 35% of the vote! It must be us forumers driving this.

THe Sun today had a group photo of the candidates today. Mr. Cowboy Ethics attended the meeting wearing what looks like a Hawaiian shirt.

I'm not sure what the Cowboy ethics says about bong rips but it appears that it is in favour of them.

Whether the poll is accurate reflection or not, it's good to see him in the lead. It should bring him some more media attention, especially if he hangs in and wins the poll.

I guess I can read the electronic version of the print edition, but then I would have to sign up for a trial, give them my contact info, and be harassed by them for months to sign up for a description. But then again, I can just tell them I wanted to see a photo of Joe Connelly in a ridiculous shirt and that is all.

Nenshi just released his video on his 3 Key Platform Themes, I was very happy to supply some photos to this video. See if you can spot them!

To be fair I think us Nenshi supporters are 'bum rushing' that poll. But if it helps get his name out there to the general public more it will be a good thing.

Well, in true fashion, I voted twice in the poll (don't ask me how): once for Nenshi and once for Hughes. I think if we vote for Hughes it will demonstrate how unscientific these polls are. But gaining support in the poll does get your name out there, even if it does not mean anything substantial. If coming in first in the poll means more people will look at Nenshi's policies, all the better.

It must be his supporters. I don't think it's a few forumers voting over and over again, because for curiostity I have voted for Alnoor Kazam 50 times today, and he's still at 1%, where as he should be at least 5%. I'm not sure how the voting poll software works, if it counts only unique IP addresses or unique pc/workstations based on cookies.

I voted for Naheed this morning, but this after I tried what you did by voting for George Johnston 25 times, and he's still at 0% out of 1200 votes, so yeah, you can really only vote once.

I don't think anybody with a brain is discounting her at all- she's the bona fide front runner now.

Naheed absolutely can win this. Voter turnout in a municipal elections is tiny here. The winner will be the candidate who mobilizes his or her supporters best. Naheed is a very smart, very resourceful guy. Do not be surprised if he's our mayor.

Well I've got to say that I think the election discussion on the Twitter hashtag #yycvote is officially going to shit.

I was thinking that twitter would be a great asset to everyone, for discussion and engagement with the candidates running for mayor and alderman. However over the weekend it seems to be spiralling into petty bickering, and trolling at its finest.

I can't help but think that it has also led to furthering the "I demand instant gratification" that seems so prevalent in our society. When someone tweets a candidate a question at 3am and then rants about it 2 hours later when they have received no response? Seriously? Just because you are up at that time doesn't mean every candidate you ask a question to is, and will answer in a matter of minutes.

Not to mention that it appears as though only a few candidates are actually tweeting themselves, and not just having their campaign teams send out pre-approved tweets (Stewart, Hehr, Connelly for the most part). Or some just tweet ridiculous nonsense (Lord, Lord, Lord...).

I dunno, maybe I'm burning out on twitter. I much prefer it to find out from other YYC buddies when neat planes are coming into YYC.
