YYC Engineer: Will they have to close parts of 9th avenue as they work on the guideway over top? Will the work be done overnight to minimize traffic congestion if that is the case?

The WLRT website is showing only a lane reduction next Monday where the guideway crosses 9th.

Depends on how capable of moving the individual segments the truss is. I know we've seen it lift them straight up but can it lift and move then along horizontally (for more then a short distance of a few feet). I'd imagine it must be able to, especially as theres numerous spots coming up as it crosses 9th and 14th where they won't be able to just park the segment directly below due to the bridges there.

Thanks for the awesome photos. I think everyone else is too busy drooling over them to answer your question While there is no protocol I can think of, I'd suggest picking your best ten if you have a ton of photos and link to flickr for the rest.

One tiny suggestion: remove the on photo date stamp - with meta tags and file dates it's not really necessary to clutter such nice pictures with an ugly date stamp.

^ I am assuming he takes those pics in a professional capacity, and the timestamp may be a requirement of that. Otherwise, I agree.

Some people think the netiquette is to put all their pictures on a photo hosting site like flikr or imageshack, and then post a few of the better ones here with a link to the photo hosting site where all the photos are located.

readers here who are interested can see the photo albums with all your pictures on the other site; readers who aren't interested don't have to wade through dozens of photos to get to the next message.

cool, sounds good, I'll keep posting the latest and greatest here from time to time and keep the bulk on flickr.

and yeah, the individual segments don't have to be lifted straight up, there's some flexibility with moving them longitudinally...just haven't seen a lot of that so far because we have had a large working area near the skate park. will be more tricky over 9th/14th though.

in some other interesting news, we are about a month behind at some parts and it looks like we are gonna be pushing some of the subs to start double shifting / working 24hrs... if I get stuck doing nights I'll start posting some night pics

and yeah the timestamp has to stay, I have to prove to my boss that I'm actually doing work lol

You sound like a real "silver lining" type of person. I'd be cussing if I had to work nights - you seem excited at the prospect of getting some more cool shots!

All of your photos are relevant and important. Do not listen to this guy.

The "wading through photos" is an issue with people who reply to photothreads by quoting the entire 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 thread and then adding a smiley to the end. Those are the annoying ones. Original posters of original photos should only be edited if they post images that are massive or something. Otherwise, let this guy do what he's doing.

I used to enjoy working graveyards. You weren't bothered by the bosses too much as they were all home sleeping. It was peaceful in a sort of way. Plus you will see another side of the City that most people don't get to see.

Getting back on topic (sort of). They have shifted traffic onto the new Bow Trail alignment from about 29 St through the 33 St intersection and west to where it rejoins the 'old' Bow Trail right at the big curve by Westbrook Mall. Both directions of Bow have been shifted. The original WB lanes have been ground up and removed already. The old EB lanes are fenced off and look to be used for staging equipment for construction.

The 17th Ave. bypass is now paved East of Sarcee Trail, and it looks like one of the approaches, NB to EB, is also complete. They're still grading 17th West of Sarcess though.
