EEEYIIKES!!!! Benidorm was always known for crass high-rises, even 30 years ago, but this is just too much!! (There's a thread somewhere here with buildings like it. Pray Vancouver never goes that way!!)

True, but as it is located right smack downtown, it will make a good - and noticeable - focal point nonetheless.

u can't even tell if a 100m building is actually tall, with that many in one area, i just see a wall of glass. even shangri-la doesn't look all that tall on thurlow

but when u go to winnipeg, or metrotown, 100m is suddenly a skyscraper

When i'm at the corner of Thurlow and Georgia sometimes the Concrete Waffle seems more dominant in the area

the one by erickson? that's the only one i felt that looked a bit torontorian...anyone who's been to t.o probably saw more concrete on one street than you would ever seen here.

2075 actually, who ever did a rendering of that future...

i told this joke to everyone i know in shanghai, and received the biggest joke award of the yr.

and the bike accident, of whoever was possessed about removing the viaducts, that one was runner up...

just when i was in shanghai's subway, commenting how massive and convinient the system was, flattering the local girl who i just had dinner with....

guess what, there was a leak on top of us....." and the shit smelled like pee..." from the street on top....they do pee on streets of shanghai

hopefully these were related to this thread

So True!! Everything there is grey concrete and brown brick (moreso in the 'burbs). Depressing as hell in winter when the trees have no leaves, and only small spruce and pines break the grey buildings, grey streets, grey snow....

That's one reason I'm the year-round greenleaf enthusiast I am; it makes such a difference to the whole ambience.

i was there in 05, that was what i remembered. i stayed for 2 days, would guess this was true in the winter. highways, stone like highrises, big buildings, and cold personality.

i stayed at a motel somewhere in the eto. area, streets are so wide that stores feel light yrs apart from eachother. and bigger store signs as a result...

and there was smoke on almost every skyscraper

T.O.: Not the most beautiful town in the world, or the most charming ... but it's the biggest, richest, and most powerful city in Canada, and as such, it hogs what it can for itself, and tries to push everyone around like the schoolyard bully.

What it will NEVER have is lush, palm-lined bachfronts, flowers in February, and (yes ... I'll say it!!!!) Robson Square, which, if it were utilised to the max, would beat out most civic centres anywhere.

There are just too many negativists and nay-sayers about it ... but that's another topic... another thread ....

Although with projects like Trump Tower Toronto, the CBD is getting super dense, for a few blocks it's as dense as NYC.
