Well, on a positive note the project is still on their website but this is clear to me the Fed can afford to wait it out until they get their price.

The cost of the refurbishment of the wall would have put the project profitability at risk though.

Harbourfront Condos

Is there any news (good or bad) regarding the Harbourfront condo project? I know the footings have been poured but that doesn't guarantee anything. I've heard some disturbing rumours. I won't believe anything until multiple, unrelated sources confirm it.

If I were you, I would put more faith in what I can see happening on-site rather than the words of people who want you to believe they are 'insiders',-and therefore smarter tham you- because they are the only one with the knowledge of 'the secret' , the information that proves that what you see is not reality.
It's been my experience that disturbing rumours usually come from disturbed minds hungry for attention and the need to feel important-unlike knowledgeable sources who trade in facts not rumours.

Well stated JRocca. I hope all goes well with this exciting project. I just wish they didn't give you such a hassle, and that you could have built it taller as I believe you originally wanted to. Hopefully, your next project for the city will be 15, 20 or more floors? I'll be crossing my fingers anyway.

Harbourfront Condos

Thank you for your response. That's exactly what I was hoping for. I'm sorry that you misunderstood the intent of my post.

I've been stuck commuting from SJ to Moncton to work for 4 years now and any development in SJ gives me some glimmer of hope that my home town is really worth staying. I've simply gotten my hopes up for a long time and, I'm sorry to say, I'm rapidly losing my optimism. I think the drive is getting to me.

My question was posted to calm my worries. The website for your project hasn't been updated in many months and working out of town doesn't allow me to check up on the progress very often. Trust me, I'm completely thrilled with your work and wish you nothing but success. I can't express how much looking forward to your beautiful addition to my hometown. Thanks again for your response, but more so, thank you for your contribution to the place I call home.

I'm curious on 3 things.

1. What does the interior of McAllister Place look like now?

2. What does the interior of Lancaster Mall look like now?

3. Is Zellers Select now totally shut down?

And are there any pics for the above?

Well said. That's probably what you feel your'e doing on this forum half the time, dispelling rumours. It's commendable you're on here with like-minded development enthusiasts, the difference is you're actually developing.... giving answers straigh from the horses mouth.

Renditions of the waterfront condos look impressive. Saint John may have lost some of it's energy hub enthusiasm but my perspective from up here in Fredericton is your city still has a lot of potential.

And I found a trick to that.

If you right click to 'Copy Image Location' in Firefox, open a new tab, and paste in the bar, you get the pic in big format! =)

The Zellers in Lansdowne Plaza is now closed for good, with August 1st being their last operating day. No word on who is moving into the location yet.

New development on Lansdowne Avenue (across the street from the ex-Zellers) is moving along. From what i've heard, 'the Chinese' are responsible for this development. One of the most annoying generalizations I hear on a daily basis is locals referring to all Asians as 'Chinese'. As far as I know, this property is going to be used for apartments and will be owned by some sort of Asian nationality, whether they be Korean or Chinese or whatever else.

The Pokiok Apartment complex-thing is nearing completion. Still have no idea how they're going to be figuring out those garages.

All photos taken by myself, with the rest able to be seen on my Flickr.

One of the most annoying things for me is when people call 170,000 dollar town houses apartments. The garages look fine... Whats there to figure out?

What's wrong with them is the fact that it's going to be near impossible to have them aligned with the road properly, especially the farthest two in my picture. Have fun with that one in the winter.

That's what engineers are for. I wouldn't be too concerned.

That Pokiok building is one of the worst looking buildings I've seen anywhere, just driving past it, you can see how horrid the fake brick is, it almost made me sick the first time I saw it. All of which is saying nothing about how ridiculously awful the design of the building is as a whole.
