keep him away? or keep more people away?? his boots WERE boring... i didn't like their presentation of austin but it's always interesting to hear austin being one of the best US cities. i'm trying to get my sister to move over there... she's got 5 kids and is about to finish school at 37. crazy! i figure it'd be great to have her kids finish school there and be much closer to my parents.

Just a semi-humorous observation either way. It is the plus/minus of living is a wonderful place. I am always proud of when the city makes these lists , not matter how goofy they are. I really do get concerned that our "uniqueness" is getting diluted. To many people coming here to take it in.... but not contributing enough. I guess that's just how it goes. I love all the growth. I am just fighting tooth and nail to make sure we grow in the least generic way possible.

right on. i hear you. i'm sure austin will grow to be a great city. no one should ever fight to kill the lifestyle that austin has to offer. i personally think that all austin is lacking is better public transportation. those UT football games almost got me fired cause even though i'd leave an hour early to work, the bus would always get me there 2 hours late whenever longhorns played. and i only lived 2.5 miles away from work.

Can Austin have a ban on pit bulls? I just got bit by one and needed 6 stitches to close my finger.

I believe they are applying a fresh coat of paint to metal exterior portions of the dome. They are also repainting the ceilings of the house chamber, due to some peeling issues apparently... this in addition to other cleaning/repainting elsewhere. The exterior scaffolding is a bit unsightly but hopefully should not take terribly long to complete.

Both from what Ive seen they are going to Fix up palm park, the symphony square and waterloo park while connecting them with a mix of types of trails. They want it to be inbetween the river walk and a park its really cool actually I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Not sure, but I saw a picture of the Shake Shack in NYC there. I'm all for Waller Creek getting a Shake Shack.

yeah, totally... it does sound very exciting. something like that would probably make austin a little more touristic, imo.

A few pics from a week ago, I like how the buildings seem to all be next to each other. From the Mopac Pedestrian Bridge. iPhone 4 so not so good on the zoom.

Hey everyone, I've been enjoying this thread for a while, but I thought I'd register and share a couple photos of Austin I took a few days ago. Includes the (nearly) completed W!

Thanks for the kind words Kevin and Migol! Migol, you must be talking about Riomaggiore, in the Cinque Terre region in Italy. A really beautiful place.
