Obviously the subjects in the foreground are more interesting than the skyscrapers in the background. He means what he says. Oh, that's an of not and or, never mind. I need glasses.

Does anybody have any updates about the project that is supposed to replace the Wilshire Grand Hotel? Out of all the projects, that is my fav and most aesthetically pleasing.

It's going to be a while before anything/if anything happens regarding that project.

I think this one is more alive than most since it will probably be largely self-funded, and presumably Korea Air will be a major tenant.

Korea Air publicly complained about the city dragging its feet on this a few months back, which you wouldn’t normally do if you didn’t have some timeline in mind. There’s a draft EIR on-line which doesn’t seem to have changed much from the original proposal (two high-rises with mini-park and ground level amenities; a small net loss of hotel rooms but 100 new residences and 1.5M ft. of office space).

But, yeah, I don’t think they’re laying off people at the hotel yet..

Nor should they, not until demolition occurs...

The meetup is on the 31st. Here's the event page. Would love to meet anyone interested in attending!

http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=129134600461994

I've also got a preliminary route planned out that kind of blends the new development/revitalization tour with some architectural hotspots.

http://www.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl...817395875.00048bd9b184435c46e1f&t=h&z=15

Meeting at the Japanese American National Museum plaza at 1st and Central in Little Tokyo. I'll keep that facebook event page updated with the most current info.

Hey guys please check out "The SSP Downtown Population Research Project" and add your thoughts as to what downtown LA should comprise of.

Here's the thread:
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=183138

I gave it a shot on paqe 10 giving downtown a total population of 24,764:

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=183138&page=10

But Cirrus has a much, much more conservative estimate on what Downtown LA should be. I used his strict guidelines using only commercial areas of Downtown (again, according to his guidelines)... I could see maybe getting rid of tract 2062 (Little Tokyo) and 2063 (directly south of LT) but that's it.
