Looks like the development across from the Biltmore(Howard Johnsoon) is going ahead as they are prepping the site. All trees on the property have been chopped and a portable office was set up on the south side of the site. Im guessing they will start digging any day now.

Good development except for one massive problem. They got frigin townhouse units fronting Prince Edward street with the club/bar/lounge and liquor store across the tiny street. Its going to cause tons of problems for the new residents. It would of been nice if they could of built in some other use for at least the ground floor on Prince Edward street, some sort of community space, or a kindergarten, studio would of been probably good, anything but townhouses.

Also I at the moment now live across from this development on east 11th avenue, likely be gone again before its done though.

RE: Club and townhomes. That will only be a short term problem. Mid-term the Ho-Jo site will be redeveloped and I'm sure the Prince Edward side will be pacified if you will

I really really really would hate for Vancouver to lose the Biltmore but hopefully it would be relocated somewhere close by if this happens.

Another chuck of industrial land most likely going to bite the dust. At least we're consistent. Cressy is behind this proposal

Thanks for those updates. The first one is basically Cambie and 47th, nice and close to the Langara 49th SkyTrain Station. Six storeys in height tells me that it is going to be wood frame, so it should be fairly affordable and quick to build. Great precedent for the Cambie Corridor.

The second project is on the site of that small factory that made furniture, "Mazitlan" or something, which closed four or five years ago. Nice site for some infill, especially since there has been a lot of townhouse/low-rise infill behind the site in the last couple of years.

SFU I think you might be wrong about the second site, my understanding is the furniture site is still for lease/sale. This will be the old cheese factory and the autobody shop.

Looks like Haebler's Shannon Station development at 57th and East Blvd. is progressing. Interesting project for a couple of reason: its tied to the existing strip mall (Choices etc) and its had a very long gestation.
