Getting a lot of conflicting stories in the news on this. Some are saying the kid "ran away from his parents", so take that for what it's worth. I suspect the train was pulling into the station and the kid fell in front of it, from the platform.
I hate to say it, but we almost need an education campaign to teach people that you do not in fact need to run towards the train. Another one will come in a few minutes, settle down. Seeing people running from half a block away on a daily basis... gee, I wonder where kids learn to do this. Especially during rush hour when the frequency is < 5 mins.
Tragic that a child had to suffer for our own collective stupidity.
