The info that has been placed out very high level and not very detailed.

Here are the links to the data that has now been made public, so I can share. Not too much to see though, note that they are calling for ~1200 parking spots, not sure how many bicycle spots there will be but probably less then that.

Take a look at the interior webcam. Is it just me or has a vast section of the lower bowl seats on the north side been removed? In addition, if you zoom in, it looks like all of the lower bowl seats are in the process of being removed.

*waiting for a go ahead to give a big "YAY!*

I concur. I think those seats are finally being put out to pasture.

Other than the new roof, nothing will freshen up the interior more than some brand new seats (of a different colour, I hope).

Thanks - interesting that the Smithe street extension will be a cul-de-sac accessed from Pacific Blvd.

Also interesting that the "Colours" info posted by JLousa in the Downtown Vancouver thread shows a two way underground parkade entrance at the north/west end of the cul-de-sac in what would otherwise be the street RoW. There looks like there is enough space to the side, however, for Smithe to link up to the north/west (i.e. one lane north/westbound).

It does also say, however, that there will be a one-way back-door service road between the Stadium and the Casino - effectively recreating Terry Fox Way closer to the stadium.

Yeah, it's well above the rim of the stadium and should give a good indication of the final height of the roof (i.e. the lowpoint in the arc of the cables).

Going back to the seats. If you zoom in with the live webcam you can see where they've removed seats that they've just piled them on top of some the remaining bolted seats. Now if they were going to install new seats at some point then why save those seats, why not chuck them out?

Perhaps they will just leave them there for the time being as there is no rush to remove them yet. Or maybe they will be recycled to a community that needs them. It's bugging me though that we haven't read anything on the seat plan.

I hope they change the seats, the black they have at Tempire Stadium looks really good. while they are at it they could reduce the toalt capacity by a couple of thousand to give each seat more room. I think a 57-58,000 capacity stadium would serve the city just as well as a 60,000 capacity stadium would.

I don't think they will though. If you will recall the reno has two phases the first was $65 million for interior improvements which is now complete. the second is the $468 million or what ever for the roof and exterior.

FYI -

Structural engineer friend of mine said that the first delivery to the site of the 120ft(?) steel masts for the roof was made last night at 3:00 am - they had to come in on extra long tractor-trailors (9 axles).

I think I might see a mast on the far right of the interior webcam - that is, if they have a square cross-section. There seems to be some form of holder or saddle for them - maybe to weld pieces together?

Hopefully the surrounding hotel/casino development gets a little more vision infused into it like Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

^as is the case with everything new. Though I think with this place you can just pay $16 to hang out for the day at the pool. (That's what TS says anyways.) Might be worth it whether the rest of the place is ready or not.

These attractions often take a few months to get all the kinks worked out. For instance, Disneyland HK when it first opened had many issues....actually, a even better example: the original Disneyland when it opened in the 50s had HUGE issues on opening day.

Singapore also recently opened a Universal Studios, they are also still trying to resolve some opening problems.

Still surprising, nonetheless. Singapore takes its international image very very seriously. When the Singapore Flyer had an electrical failure a couple of years back resulting in people being stuck on the ride for a few hours, the ride was closed down for a couple of months to install additional back-up systems.
