Well, Nordstrom's first store in Manhattan (as opposed to suburban areas around NYC) was a Nordstrom Rack about a month ago (it has department stores in the burbs though). Apparently lack of suitable space was the reason for opening a Rack before a department store in Manhattan.

I wonder if Holt Renfrew is considering opening a second store in the Greater Vancouver Area. I always thought the HMV Megastore on Robson Street would make for a great location for a second department store in Vancouver like Nordstrom, though it is a very small space.

In a recent New York magazine, the Rack's product mix got really good reviews in almost all departments when compared to Century 21, which I found interesting.

Has anyone heard what is going into the old Kaplan's Deli on Alberni Street? Also has anyone heard about any major designers opening stores in Vancouver?

the old corner store in kits down on 1st has turned into an upscale looking deli - ie all dark, moody lighting, fancy displays etc.

Is that a staff member outside the store? He prolly has to use his phone there cause he can't get reception in the store.

I asked this question here some time ago and got no joy - have since found out, but forgot to post. Get ready to get completely wired!!! - Thierry Busset (the French chocolatier) is opening up a chocolate boutique in that spot. Scheduled to open in the Autumn. You can read more at:

Mmm. It's been years and years since I've had A&W, but they're most definitely my favorite "fast food" place.

As for Aladdin, I hope they make a mean Falafel. They have competition on that street.

Guess I'm the only person that doesn't like Babylon, first falafel there was decent, benn back twice and both times I was pretty disappointed. The place on Water St between Lamplighters and Fabric is always good, plus they're cheaper too.

Hmm. It's always so busy I'll have to have it again to remember if it is that good or not.
