Looks like this year's Lilac Festival will be disappointing. I don't think I will go.

You gotta go, big crowds make it seem warmer! I'm off in the next half hour or so. Rain or no, I never miss Lilac except for the one time I was out of town.

It might be the best time to go. Last year I heard complaints that there were too many people.

"Heard complaints"? You didn't go? Weather was perfect.

Wow, Lilac was today? Had no clue. I find they hardly advertise the event anymore, seeing as this is the first I've heard about it.

I actually did go! I thought it is going to rain today, but I walked through the fest anyway at around lunch hour on my way home from church. However, I didn't spend as much time as last year, and I only have a cell phone as a camera. I will post them later this afternoon--not as awe-inspiring as last year. Few things missing this year--beach volleyball? solar power car?

Also, I don't think I can avoid the festival anyway because I use Route 3 almost all the time when commuting.

Anybody who complains that there are too many people at any event in Calgary doesn't know what too many people looks like. Here in Shanghai you can really get too many people but in Calgary... not so much.

It was an absolute blast! Great food, great people, great tunes, and the weather was fine. Didn't rain a drop for the 3 hours I was there; the sun even peeked out a few times. One great new development: 17th was closed off (except for buses), so no bottleneck separating north and south sides of the festival.
