From what I heard the first closings at the Austonian and the Four Seasons will happen in the next 4-5 weeks.

6 stories tall???? 6 measly floors?!?!?!?!?! blasphemy!!! how dare they litter our downtown with some sleepy boring low rise. that's what the rest of the city is for lol
I could be wrong but just from looking at the Shoal Creek Walk renders it appears that the Cirrus Logic HQ is in the Capitol View Corridor.

These were taken Sunday 4/25
Very nice photos, Mopacs! The weather last weekend was perfect wasn't it?

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken I think that lot sits in a capitol view corridor. Also, 6 floors isn't too bad. The design will probably be nice (I hope). Also being 6 floors does't mean that it has to be short. Whole Foods' HQ has 7 floors, but is 136 feet tall.

Thanks guys! The weather was indeed gorgeous on Sunday (albeit windy). I have a few more from my excursion that day so I'll post soon.

better that than another bar filled with meatheads wearing Ed Hardy shirts.

The fall of West 6th from the hip part of town to Dallas Lite over the last 4-5 years really pisses me off.

Yeah, I hate going through there, especially at night when all the clubs are busy. My friend says people like that are "plastic people". lol

Hey I like West 6th and the Warehouse District. Some of the best Dance clubs we have are there. Im into Dance/Electronica music so I like to go to some of them. Lanai on 5th and Congress is very fun, and has some great views too. Now I can agree that some people are very fake looking but not everybody thats in the Warehouse District or West 6th is like that.

I don't know.. when I last sat on the porch at Opal's I think I got some sunburn from the tanner induced glow coming from the people walking down the street at 10PM

East 6th has turned into Virginia Beach and West 6th is turning into Dallas' West End.

You mean Town Lake? Getting from Travis to Congress would be quite the feat in a canoe.

^Yeah, it might be rough going over the dams.

One 20+ foot boat went over Tom Miller Dam a few years ago during all that flooding. Two people that were on it barely made it off alive. The boat was never found. It probably got mashed up and sank.

Here's the rescue video clip from the dam's security cameras.

Yeah that is a great time! ( But I do think you mean Ladybird Lake, AKA: Town Lake). It really is a beautiful view of the city.

I Highly recommend it!

It looks like they're starting to take down the W crane.

Yep...the crane is completely down now. End of an era.

Block 51

Looks like plans for Block 51 are inching forward. Those of us in 360 (and presumably other nearby residents) were sent the standard notice letters by the city that a developer has filed for zoning variances nearby, in this case at 500 West 5th Street. This is the lot just west of the post office between 5th and 6th, the current location of Miller Blueprint and much surface parking.

Plans are vague but call for a mix of business, residential, restaurants, and retail. You guys will recall that this was going to be the site for Andrews/Novare's next condo project, Ovation, at one point.

Do we know if this will be a novare/andrews project? Also, I think Miller is stayin put.

It is still listed on the cities site as a project, so I would imagine that one of the two ovation towers will go up there. The question is if it is still a 40 story/550 ft tall project. My guess is no, but my hopes are yes.

This was the larger of the two buildings in the original Ovation proposal. The smaller one being where the post office is now.

true, although the city hasn't updated the emerging projects since november of 2009...so who knows. I'm kind of hoping they turn the post office site into some kind of office/post office hybrid. Both sites have a lot of potential.
