don't joke. because there's been many a time when strolling late along the sea wall that i wish there was a BBT place nearby.

Seeing as the main clientele for the VCC will be business tourists here for conventions, I'd say the chance of that are 0%. No consistent client base to build a practice, and the rents are way too high. If you've ever been on the landlord's side of a commercial lease, you'll know dentists and doctors are some of the most worst, most difficult, frustrating people to do business with.

It's a safe bet all of the uses will be food, convenience and tourist related.

haha i doubt it, why in the world would a dentist or doctor pay the outrageous rents to have a waterfront location with large patio space only to be in an out of the way location with little vehicle access?

I think you can rest assured knowing the chances of that happening are roughly 0.1%

theres only so many mcdonalds you can shove in an area

theres a ton of retail space in that convention centre i walked arouind it the other day wondering how they can fill it up - even the parking lot has retail space

I was on my way to the shaw tower today and I had extra time, so I walked through waterfront centre to canada place to check it out. I thought the passage from there to the west building was always closed to the public, but it was open and there were no signs or anything. I walked through there and saw the art, and then up to the main floor. There was a guy dressed like he was in the secret service near the entrance, but he didn't say anything as I left from that entrance. It's a really nice art collection there so I was glad to get a chance to see it.

Didn't realize the Whale is by Douglas Coupland, I had heard that it was only temporary and was placed there for the upcoming 1st annual Canadian video game awards, it made sense to me with the pixelation. But since it's by a famous artist I can see it being permanent.

I flew home from DFW Saturday with a planeload of folks headed here for this. I did my best to play the welcoming host for those seated around me (when I wasn't demonstrating my iPad, that is). Felt like I should have drawn a commission both from Tourism Vancouver and from Apple.
