...What about people using the downtown fare-free zone? I saw those stickers at 8th Street.

Since its part of a city project, it likely went to CPC as a 'for information only' report. That said, I haven't seen anything in the agendas for it, I recall seeing the reports for 8th street and 7th street shortly before they started construction on each.

My thoughts:

I think this will be a good upgrade for this station. The new elevator will really make the station more accessible. It was a enclosed hallway before to access the elevator.

I really hope they do the proposed pedestrian crossing being studied at Whitehorn Drive.

The openness and new windows will be an improvement.

Pretty much what I suspected was involved.

Of course now I've found the DL report for the parkade and park which shows renders of the new LRT platform, whether they are 100% accurate or not I'm not sure since they seem to describe the platform as outside the scope of the report.

From this it looks pretty much like the old +15 was integrated into the new platform.

Thanks, Mersar for posting those. They do show the bridge as the old one (now demolished). I'm going to guess the new staircase will match the style of the park rather than the Holts store to which it connects.

the new bridge certainly does look like that one. It's not fully enclosed from the elements, it just has a cover. It will have the same kind of arch shape, but the vertical supports are sort of like an chinese fan - vertical at the south side, but leaning more and more away from the building as they get further from the building. Then, at the north end there's just a light feeling staircase heading down towards the west, down onto the platform.

Totally unenforceable, total waste... BUT... have you been by those bus stops next to the Tim Hortons? The one on Centre and 40th? full of Timmies cups etc. Or by the dog park where I have seen people put dog poop in them? I understand that when someone needs to throw something they need to throw it out. Someone has to clean them. I wouldn't want to clean someone else's trash up either.

Serious question: who ends up paying for the garbages to be emptied? Is it out of the transit budget, or would it fall under the same category as emptying a garbage can on, say, 17th Avenue?

I just can't see a good reason for discouraging someone from using a "public" garbage can when the alternative is chucking it on the ground. Of course we are all responsible for our own garbage, but exclusive garbage cans will at best be used regardless, and at worst will be substituted with the ground instead. Where's the benefit?

Does anyone have any information on what will happen to the #57 Airport bus once McCall Way/Air Services Place/Barlow Trail closes next year? I heard a rumour that bus service to the Airport is going to end when the roads are closed. That can't be true!

I got to see the Lego C-trains at Supertrain this weekend. They had one of each of the U2's and SD160's running on a circuit that passed models of Marlborough, Zoo, the new 7th St (complete with LEDs and the clocks), and the old 7th St stations. The detail was incredible. My camera pictures were not incredible, but if you want I can try and touch them up and post them.

Re: Whitehorn station upgrades: So they are back to doing renovations then? That's going to take a lot of work, and possibly a lot of closure... and if they intend to do this to the other 4 identical NE stations plus the two ones with tunnels, that could mean years of chaos... That notwithstanding, I think its a definite improvement. I am kind of curious whether the work they did last weekend there was related to this at all.

Re: Airport bus routes: A downtown to Airport BRT that connects to the north bus network like that plan suggests it will (perhaps in the future at the station they're planning at 96 ave), plus the existing 430 crosstown from Crowfoot to Northpointe termial to the Airport, and then extended via Country Hills and Metis or something like that to McKnight or Saddleridge station, and then ran at the frequency the 57 currently runs at, or turned into a BRT... I think that would work.

It probably is the ad company, or the company they have contracted out for cleaning that empties the garbages out. The real bottom line is, they're just stickers people. We all know it won't work anyway. After two pages of discussion, I think that we can move on. All this talk about it is what they want - don't let the terrorists win.....
