No, I'm not depressed, I just think that the Canucks didn't try hard enough early of the game and end up cost them a victory and 2 points.

That game was terrible. The refs were really lax on the penalties and the canucks kept getting run over in the first. Their timing on pulling the goalie was also really off.

That 7-1 game against the Canadiens really made up for the first three.

Sad news: Daniel Sedin has a broken foot and will be out for 4-6 weeks

Pop Quiz: For how many more decades will the Canucks insist on using that same U2 song at the start of every game?

Bonus Question: For how many more decades will the Canucks insist on using that same fat pseudo-opera singer to sing the national anthem?

Folks, some traditions should eventually be changed, especially when there are more interesting and creative alternatives available.

I'm pretty sure the U2 song was only brought back for the playoffs. It wasn't on the last few times I've seen a game.

Ya, tradition is lame.. why don't the Habs change their jerseys already...

And a big F*CK you very much to the liquored-up sh!theads that decided it was "cool" to have a tailgate party right next to the playground north of Science World.

Next time I call the cops.

^ I don't think drinking in the back of a pickup truck next to a park is necessarily the route we want to go to mitigate that stigma. Id rather be no-fun-couver than no-class-couver.

Also I really like the U2 intro... I wouldn't be heartbroken if they found something else or anything, but I don't really see the problem with it. Do you guys have any better ideas?

Also don't really see what is wrong with Mark Donnelly either... he has a great voice and a little shtick to let the crowd sing, which most seem to enjoy. Is it really that much better to have a different person sing it every night? I mean really who cares? I think the only silly tradition is singing the damn anthems every single game.

I'm not saying that's the right thing to do, but if you don't have some more official "tailgate/pregame" activities, that's what you'll get.

Vancouver seems to think that ignoring or bylawing a problem will make it disappear, when in fact you'll get an unofficial version that is worse, making the city look both backwards and hickville. See: liquor laws.

I can't think of too many cities that tailgate for hockey games, and certainly none that I would like to emulate.

Bars are there if you want to predrink before going to the hockey game... I would imagine that if you can afford playoff tickets in this town you can afford a few pints out. Certainly isnt a lack of liquor establishments within walking distance to the garage. And if you're not going to the game why in the world are you pre-drinking next to a park near science world...? That's what backyards living rooms and balconies are for.

You know what? You're right.

It's GOOD, HONOURABLE, and RESPECTFUL to get sh!tface drunk next to a playground. Gotta train those young, impressionable kids to be the next generation of knuckle-draggers!

The U2 I can take or leave, but Donnelly is a great anthem singer.

Whatever works. As long as the fans keep getting off on it, who's to say things should be changed? I do think the U2 intro is getting over used though. How hard is it to find other songs? It's like our local radio stations - playing the same 12 songs over and over, except in this case it is just one song.

This is precisely the point.

I like that U2 song. I also like the fat anthem singer who sings in the corny, pseudo-operatic style. But to use the exact same song (and the exact same anthem singer doing the exact same shtick) year after year after year gets old and stale. There comes a point when the rigid, unvarying monotony of the introductory sequence begins to negate its drama, since we all know how this movie begins.

With regards to the anthem, using the same singer every night squanders an opportunity for creativity, art and entertainment. The Canadian and American anthems are potentially beautiful pieces of music. It would be exciting and refreshingly entertaining to hear a different, authentic musician render a unique and potentially beautiful interpretation of these songs each night. This is a golden opportunity to showcase and enjoy diverse musical acts, from big stars to talented unknowns, from rock or pop to folk or bluegrass. The possibilities are exciting.

he only sings during the playoffs, and its a tradition because we started actually winning in the playoffs around the time that he started singing for them.

let it go man... let it go.

Winning? Winning what? Winning the Stanley Cup?

U2 and Donnelly's shtick are getting old dude. Think something new man... think something new.
