I do understand design is subjective however, most of the responses that prefer Bazis' proposal are almost exclusively about its superior height instead of the merits of its design.
Yes the new design is better. And more fluid, but I was hoping and extra 5 stories can be added to this project, its to short for an intersection as well connected as this...
I wouldn't say nearly 800 units on this lot is not dense enough for this "connected" intersection or would I refer to 213 metres outside the CBD as too short. I'm not sure how 5 extra floors will make any impression either but I'd be surpised if we don't find out eventually.
It doesn't matter how many subway lines are below the site. What truly matters is the available capacity.

I just submitted my new drawing of Number One Bloor. While making my drawing, and looking at render after render, and lots n lots of pix of the model, I really started to like this proposal. I think it will look great from street level and on the skyline from a distance. As always, choice of materials and execution will make a huge difference in how it turns out. And an extra 10 or 15 floors will certainly help in making make it tower above even the nearby Four Seasons hotel.
Pretty much confirms now that this one will see a height adjustment along the way.
I wonder how they plan to effect additional height in terms of the design. Adding new floors on top would require a new design for the crown, but stretching out the tower by adding floors in the middle would alter the shape and size of balconies that have already been purchased.
True stretching out the tower would alter the floor plans of purchased however, the developer is well within their rights and the purchasers will just have to settle with being on a higher floor. Who do you think write the purchase agreement?

But wouldn't changing the size of the balcony constitute a material change of the terms of the contract?
and in that render posted by samne, i just noticed little Uptown Residences in the background! It should look really cool when complete in this view but freakin small compared to this giant!
Looking over at the diagrams section, i really noticed that slanted roofs are the new "in" thing in TO... Ritz/L tower borrow so many traits from eachother! (except L tower has curved cuts, the Ritz has straight cuts)
