Yeah that thing is only there during the summer in th Old Port and not open everyday....it really doesnt count for street food. Its more of an artsy thing that MTL likes to do to show off lol with the wole container thing.

Haha this place isnt even there half the year so I and im sure all MTLers dont consider it "street food". and more for "show" than anything.

Not sure how it is in Portland so I cant really comment but it would be nice if you can elaborate in your posts more often lol.

there is a place in portland that is all street food vendors its really cool - they look like that thing in montreal - some are campers whatever little shacks that sell all kinds of foods from thai to russian

Im actually heading to Seattle saturday..should stop by Portland!

BTW i know this is way off topic. I coulnt find a Seattle topic on here so here goes...I know many Vancouverites go down to Seattle often...what are some must do and see things there?

The experience music project is apparently pretty good. Pike Place Market, but I doubt much is open this time of year. They've got a very old and very short monorail line and a new LRT system as well if you're into that sort of thing.

Headed down for comic con?

the pike place market is always fun, there is an undergorund tout i have heard of never done it though

capital hill is cool to check out

there is a restaurant called Purple which is really good its near the W hotel thats all I remember they have all these champagne drinks - i had the stoli boli which was good my friend had a stout champagne one which he said was kinda gross

I actually had no clue about comicon being there this weekend! should check it out...hope there is nice weather....going for some new spring summer clothes and the dollar is basically at par!

Check out Paseo if you have a chance, they have some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. http://www.paseoseattle.com/

I checked out the underground tour a few months ago, it's ok, basically you just tour around under the sidewalks right by Pioneer Square. I actually found the history lesson that they gave before the walking tour to be the most interesting part... then again... I'm a bit of a history nerd.

If you have a car then I'd definitely recommend that you check out the Museum of Flight. It's right near Bowing Field and has an amazing collection of planes including the Air Force One plane from the 70's, a concord and a huge collection of WW2 planes. http://www.museumofflight.org/

Ballard & Fremont are cool neighbourhoods if you like the Kits & Main Street scene here. Check them out if you have the time.

I'm not sure why, but I've always happened into the best Italian food in Seattle.

Had an incredible, very reasonably priced traditional Italian meal during lunch at Cafe Bengodi right in Pioneer Square: http://www.seattleslittleitaly.com/cafe-bengodi-restaurant.html

For a nicer evening meal, there is a larger restaurant on Capitol Hill called La Spiga Osteria: http://www.laspiga.com/ While more expensive than Cafe Bengodi, it was moderately priced overall for a handsome, very upscale dining experience. They had a great variety of plates, and it is all presented for easy sharing. They also had great salads and antipasta plates as well as a large, well-priced wine menu (by the glass or bottle).

I would highly recommend either one.

Regarding the city itself, Pike Place Market it worth a visit. I tend to like Granville Island better, but the setting of Pike Place is nice. The downtown is pretty impressive. We actually had a lot of fun one day just visiting the main Library downtown, which is architecturally interesting: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/news/local/library/photogalleries/spl1.html.

I actually found Pioneer Square a bit shabbier than other parts of downtown . . . reminds me of the main touristy strip at the start of Gastown. Capitol Hill is nice for a visit, but if you are only going to be there a day or two, I'd start out by exploring the downtown.

I'm not an expert at Seattle by any means, but those were my impressions. I'd like to explore it more sometime myself.

Yes, I think so. The same one that used to Yaohan in Richmond.

I'm surprised that T&T is tackling the North Shore myself. I have a feeling tho, if they can pull off a Whole Foods/Urban Fare version of T&T, I can see it being quite successful.

West Van is a fickle place. For example, Chinese restaurants generally don't do well in West Van. It's not because the people don't like Chinese food, because alot do. It's just that they want GOOD chinese food. If it's just a tad sub-par, they'd just rather drive their Mercedes across town and eat there.

So, it not only has to be GOOD, and it has to be relatively upscale. If these two conditions are met, you'll have one busy business. If it's just good, but doesn't meet the expectations of the affluent neighbourhood, it won't be busy. If it's just upscale, some people go but people there know the taste of good food and won't waste money on anything less.

Richmond Centre has shut down a whole section of the mall - all the stores are gone and behind boards and it says a new retail experience or rebirth is coming... its the area down by sears - basically they have gotten rid of that one corridor and all the stores in that section are gone

my friend and i specualte a large store wants to move in we were thinking Forever 21 or H&M
