yea W does look like its topped out. By the way , i was riding through 1st street and noticed that part of the white lines of the austonian crown was lit up blue (just a small section of the white line). it looked pretty noticable for just that portion.

The hotel opens in December, so I am sure the exterior of the entire tower will complete by then, if not before. I'd speculate in the next three or four months.

A few months ago I commented that I was concerned about the exposed mechanicals on the roof of the Four Seasons. I still am, but the new glass is starting to help.

photo taken from my balcony (i need a telephoto!)

Yeah, that's nice area of South Austin. My dad had a lawn business in the late 80s, and a lot of his customers were in that area. A lot of nice houses.

The W is having a top out party on March 3rd. The party will be on the 32nd floor of the building.

The problem now is that they stuck some bright white lights on each of those boxy Mechanical sections which I was horrified when I saw. I really think they should keep those ugly things as dark as possible at night because you could barely even make them out from afar now it looks like some weird face in the sky with two eyes and a grinning mouth where the other lights go around the main roof edge.

Woo hoo guys for the pictures. *clap clap clap* For some reason, this forum somehow escaped my subscription folder and when I clicked the User CP this forum wasn't there... Anyone know how that happened?

Not sure. The subscription feature alerts you to new posts in the threads you've subscribed to. But if you don't visit those threads for like 3 or 4 days or so after the new posts have been made, then it won't show those as being "new" posts and won't alert you then. It must be based on time and how recently those posts were made, rather than ones you've actually viewed. I know, it seems backwards.

Yeah, I saw it last time I was up there. I wasn't expecting it to show up. From what the newspaper said, it's 170 feet tall. Surely, any highrises that might get built at Mueller will show up there. You can also see the 290 Landfill in the background to the right.
