"What has struck me thus far is that for every weather delay, highly publicized protest and tragic event, there seems to be tenfold that many experiences in terms of the kindness and demeanor of the Canadian people, the beauty of their city and constant reminder that sports can indeed unite diverse people — even for just a couple of weeks," said David Carter, executive director of the Southern California Sports Business Institute, who is in Vancouver for the Olympics".

When the three medalists were on the podium after the event, he did not smile at all. The Aussie was completely unemotional. Very 'Vulcan-like.' But the traitor lost to his former country, so it's all good.

Oh man, Benny Benassi was AWESOME last night! He was wearing a Team Canada jersey and was crowdsurfing a bit at one point. On the skytrain home people were wooing like mad, particularly as we stopped at each station and a few people got off. The train was packed -standing room only (probably at 85% full for each car). Truly epic.

PS. If you are ever trying to get to the Plaza of Nations, the seawall is the only way. The giant fenced mess that is BC Place & GM Place is a challenge to get around, but I recommend keeping to the East of it, as it extends very far West without any breaks in the fencing.

Please, can you write a letter of complaint to the Westender and tell them that all these people outside of your window making noise need to let you get your sleep? I mean, they're so inconsiderate...

Sorry about that. Embedding with the "youtube" bbCode didn't work for some reason. Edited with a simple URL instead.

Well, his name is D. Begg (-Smith)... Ok, cheap shot, couldn't resist. Anyways, he seemed like a real robot up there after coming 2nd... what a difference from Jenn Heil, who was so gracious.

Anyways, one photo I took of the convention centre today - so many people!

It did remind me a lot of Japan. Maybe even busier than some of the busiest places, today!

Got back a while ago from the medal ceremonies tonight, money well spent, the opening BC segment was pretty good except for the fashion show (paper mache dresses? ). The medal presentations were incredible, even though our anthem wasn't played tonight the crowd exploded for the two medals we did get. The concert was actually the worst part of the night, not really because Nelly was bad, the sound was completely off, such a contrast from opening night. It was too loud, the instruments overpowered the vocals, someone definitely dropped the ball on the soundchecks. Was also surprised to see them only use half the stadium although I guess it makes sense.

And before anyone asks if they fixed the cauldron, the answer is no, and not only that it was turned off. It isn't visible, you need to walk all the way to the edge to look behind the curtain.

How was security? Just curious how early I need to get into the building for Monday's victory ceremony. I'm guessing an hour?

Too bad about the acoustics. Everything sounded amazing at the Opening Ceremonies, and I thought good acoustics at BC Place would be permanent. Oh well.
