^ ...and I don't know how he came up with "two" convention centres...it's an expansion, and as a journalist he should know that they're both connected and are operated by the same public company as one facility....not to mention that the convention centre has been a project 2 decades in the making, it's certainly not an Olympic project with initial convention centre proposals being Bing Thom's BC Place plan, then later a private (and free to the taxpayer) Wynn casino-convention centre proposal which the City of Vancouver foolishly rejected, and following that the NDP decided to build the expanded convention centre where it now stands and soon after the Olympic bid came along and the BC Liberals were elected.

I think someone needs to reply to his column and give him a b-slap.

Well, there are still original tickets available for some events, yes, right on the Vanoc site. I picked up a pair of lower bowl row 7 tickets to one of the round 1 men's hockey games earlier this week. There were pairs of similar tickets available for almost all round 1 games that didn't include Team Canada or USA, plus a few other events like ice dance and curling. I'm talking about original tickets, not the Vanoc fan-to-fan auction. Speedskating was unfortunately sold out.

does anyone know where Phoenix is playing? <3

Quote:
Phoenix
The four core members of this dance-rock band started playing music together in grade school, in Versailles, France. They collaborated with the electronic duos Daft Punk and Air before taking the name Phoenix to specialize in music that is full to bursting with hooks and smarts. With special guests and Vancouver indie favourites You Say Party! We Say Die!

ummmmm the park looks a month or 2 away........

they will want to grow in the grass and shrubs a bit......

I was going to comment that it looks like a late spring opening and then the last phase aka the corner building will complete next spring as the leases run up October 31 2010.

It looks like there's going to be a lot of portrayal of Vancouver!
As a long time Simpson's fan, this is going to be a very special episode to enjoy.

Vancouver has finally arrived! lol.

....
Perhaps the globe is stationary & the rest of the world is revolving around it?

(don't forget we've replaced Toronto as the Centre of the Universe for a few weeks)

I drove into Vancouver recently from the Kootenays and can report that the olympic sponsor billboards were first seen as east as where you can exit off hwy 1 over to agassiz where that water park starts way east of Chilliwack. Billboards for coke, samsung, panasonic, ctv etc.
