They use separate parts from separate suppliers. You can, whenever you buy a Toyota, actually make sure your car is built in Japan and not here.
They go for higher on resale, too.
As for Cypress, they really should have just held every event in Whistler and avoided the nightmare. |
No.. they're not being recalled in Japan.. yet. Toyota has admitted that they've known about a problem with the 2010 Prius and have fixed it in models manufactured since late January 2010. They had not told anyone about it, even though these cars have been on sale for months!
"The company said it had redesigned the anti-lock braking system (ABS) - designed to prevent skidding - for the latest version of its Prius produced since last month and would soon announce steps for those already on the road.
"The design changes on the ABS were implemented in January," said Hiroyuki Yokoyama, a Toyota managing officer in charge of quality control.
"We, as a maker, want to take some sort of measures to explain to our customers and are studying it now. We'll make an announcement before long," said Yokoyama.
"The brakes are slow but if you continue to step on them, the car will stop," he told a hastily convened press conference held after the group reported its quarterly earnings results."
Typical blame it on the Americans or Canadians attitude.. when this is a HUGE designed in Japan problem. Some say it could even be fatal for Toyota.
