399-B Line
I sent an email to translink to see when the proposed 399-B line was going to start up in Surrey. I had attended an open house last year, and they said the line should start as soon as the Olympics were finished. They were going to use the extra staff that they were hiring for the Olympics, and the articulated buses from the old Richmond 98-B line. Unfortunately, the new line doesn't have the required funding.

Dear Kevin
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the proposed 399 B-Line on King
George Highway in Surrey. As you may be aware, TransLink recently
underwent an extensive process to secure the additional funding required
to meet the overall transportation needs of the region. TransLink
worked with regional stakeholders, including the public, on developing
funding strategies for transportation improvements that will encourage
sustainable modes of travel, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide
for the efficient movement of goods and people throughout the region.
The level of additional funding has a direct impact our ability to
advance transit-related projects. As a result of that process, on
October 23, 2009, the Mayors' Council on Regional Transportation
approved a transportation plan 'supplement' that will generate $130
million in new annual revenue, allowing TransLink to maintain resources
allocated to transit operations at current levels. This 'supplement' is
referred to as the Funding Stabilization Plan.
While the $130 million Funding Stabilization Plan allows for the
maintenance of current transit resources, it does not allow for service
expansion i.e. all service expansion projects, including the 399, are
currently on hold. TransLink will not have the ability to expand
service until such a time as new funding sources are secured, in excess
of the Funding Stabilization Plan, that once again allow for service
expansion.
That being said, it is anticipated that there will be opportunities in
the future to implement this new route, once Transit secures the
resources needed to enable further expansion of the transit system.
