Haha , I was thinking about a restaurant. A Montreal style resto that serves Montreal Favorites!

Not 3 dollar steamies but 79 cent ones like they do in Montreal!

haha man i miss my Delicatessens...only one that is decent is La Belle Patate on Davie near Bute.

Some activity seems to be taking place with the Canada Post Building
I heard there was going a Canada flag covering it? Did it get taken down or is yet to be put up? Or is this the dreaded wrap that's going up?

HSBC getting in on the welcoming action:

Green roof going up on 'the cabin' on the VAG lawn.

("his last words were "cherish the cabin..."")

So if the Cheerios wrap does go up, who's down for a protest in front of the building?

Aside from the fact that it looks like the rendering was drawn in MS Paint, there's nothing REALLY too bad with it.

It'll look a lot better than that, anyways.

^^That barely passes as a legit "olympic" wrap. Where's the friggin olympic logo... oh right, the tiny one next to the illegible text. Yes, bask in the spirit of the Games by mailing off portions of your cereal box... no one will see through it as another lame marketing ploy...

I haven't seen any other olympics close up, but this has to be the most corporatized one ever. There has been a few exceptions, like the cool cranberry rings going up in the river, but most of the major elements including olympic architecture has been all about on-time, one-budget, no frills. We seem to have mastered no-circuses aspect of bread-not-circuses...

it makes sense that the flag is on the east side, that's the side that's facing the livecity venue right? the ugly cheerios then just faces georgia.

Was not sure where to post this, but I just watched a BBC news story about the dying night life in Paris, due to noise complaints from the increasing number of residents around the club / pub areas. Because of this many musicians and other artists are starting to leave and base themselves in other European cities.

But get this, clubs stay open until 7AM!!!!!

Coud you imagine that?

Honestly, people living in downtown Vancouver have no idea what true light / noise / party issues are. We should at least be a 4am closing city on weekends.

Just interesting noting that we are not the only city facing NIMBY problems, but then again, Paris does party 5 hours later than we do.........with much louder music and much brighter lights.
