"A modest veil" by Michael Lin was grabbing all the attention on the north side of the Art Gallery today. What ugly white building across the street? I got the sense that no one was looking at Sears.

Gawd, that looks so tacky. They should have at least broken it up more so it stood between the pillars instead of obliterating them.

Still admiring the ironic name of the art.

Okay, how 'bout this. "Skin of time" by Choi Tae Hoon. I'm not sure when it arrived but it sits at the north foot of Bute St. where the upside down church used to sit.

Perhaps it evokes what was there before... like about 200 years ago.

Is that supposed to be a tree? Kind of looks like a baseball bat with roots.

"Skin of Time"
Choi Tae Hoon, Korea
Steel mesh, led, digital media

"The tree represents many things in Korean culture. Aspects of the artist's life are reflected in the night light via messages and important mementos embedded into the metal bark of the tree. One of Korea's most progressive sculptors, TaeHoon, makes his Canadian debut with the Vancouver Biennale."

Okay, one last art blast. This one is at the Shangri-La on Georgia St.

"From Shangri-La to Shangri-La" by local boy, Ken Lum.

Concord 2020 as from the fences around the "Concord Pavilion Site"

(my photos hosted on facebook)

of note.......

1) looks like concord is really into the whole change of shape to the park with a wall of towers along pacific or so the renderings would show

2) I don't see the GREENWICH project on the render. odd?

3) I see a NEW project in the range of the PARKADE at Beatty & Pender. That site would be a logical pick up for Concord......can anyone shed any light on that? You see Spectrum 5 aka Cosmo on the render.....to the NORTH of that....you see a mysterious NEW project on the render.......and that's the one I am talking about.

I attended the Public Launch Party last night at The W2 Community arts picture in the photo. It's a good spot for small exhibitions right across from Woodwards. It'll interesting what other things are moving into the neighbourhood.

And it looks like they are built into the viaducts! Are one of those blue towers to the right of BC Place the GM tower? (be nice that a couple of them are office).

The blue towers are all existing concord buildings.

Oh, ok, I see now. Does the GM Tower have any chance of seeing the light of day? And where would it be located exactly in that pic?

It will sure make a cool drive in the future along the ducts being wedged between so many towers! It will be a true urban sight!

2020 gives the market enough time to heat up. So, it'd be silly to rule it completely dead. Maybe just... unlikely from what we know now ?

If it fails, just give in and make it condos, like the Maple Leafs are doing with their two huge towers next to ACC
