looks like Hotel Georgia has a new hotel partner (it was previously the Hotel Valencia group). I've stayed at the Rosewood resort in Los Cabos and it was fantastic. this hotel chain is really kick-ass.

Owned by Delta Group, the legendary Hotel Georgia is undergoing a full restoration and is scheduled to reopen in early 2011 as Rosewood Hotel Georgia. First opened in 1927, the hotel came to be known as Vancouver's most historic and elegant retreat. The Georgian Revival structure welcomed a who's who of the entertainment world, including Elvis Presley, Nat "King" Cole, Katherine Hepburn and British royalty. When it is unveiled in 2011, the property will feature 154 guest accommodations, Sense, A Rosewood Spa®, a fitness center, indoor swimming pool, nightclub and the Hawksworth Restaurant by renowned Chef David Hawksworth. A separate 48-story residential tower is slated to be completed in 2012.

Night club! Could be cool! Perhaps a bit more upscale than the grunge elsewhere?

I forget the name of it, but I used to go there often. It was a decent space.

Yup - and before that I think it was a pub called the "George V"

Loved the gothic arches down there - that space had (has?) tons of character...

Pic by me today
- Still pouring floors (Capitol seems to have geared down for the Games already)
Based on Locked In's last photos, this floor should make them level with the old hotel:

Thanks for the constant updates guys, really keeps a homesick Vancouverite from going completely off the deep end.

Too bad it wont make it too far above the Hotel Georgia for the olympics but it seems to be moving at a decent rate now after several slow months fusing the new building to the existing hotel.

The Vancouver forum is so much better than it used to be. Only a couple of years ago it was almost impossible to see updates of pretty much every project. No one was taking pictures. Now with Raggedy, Locked In, Distilled, Enthosefog, SFU etc., life has become a lot more bearable for us transplanted Vancouverites.

It's going to be another bland condo tower. Not so sure how sweet that is.
