Here's a recent proposal for what is currently one of the last surface parking lots along Bank Street in downtown Ottawa. It's called Standard Life Phase 3 and it will be completely different from the 1992 twins that make up phases 1 and 2.

Renders from the City of Ottawa zoning bylaw application

It is not, however, surrounded by forest as that render might suggest.

This aerial is a bit old as the red crane is now a 24-storey condo called Mondrian (my home).

The website says this:

Approx. 50 storeys, residential, its in the old port.

that's really wide for 50 floors

and it doesn't look like a residential tower. it looks like 50 floors of gell with red blocks suspended within it.

I think Hamilton is trying to catch up with the 1980s building boom the rest of the country had.

I hope you're right. Old Port is much better off without this translucent, abstract monolith.

Preach it, brother.

Here is one for Thunder Bay:

The architect of the above mediocrity also has a neat looking vision for Kenora on page two of this gallery. 18 storeys plus the spire would make it the tallest in Northern Ontario.
