Sweet! The floorplates get larger and larger like a flower vase!
This will certainly be unique in Vancouver. It's hard to say what I think without seeing the other side, but according to the renderings we saw it should be ok.
I too wish the colour wasn't turquoise though.

Interesting how the development on the North corner of Nelson and Homer is referred to as '7 storey office tower'. Is that to avoid scaring off prospective buyers in the area? Yeesh...

no it was used as COV storage from what I understood. I imagine it was a upkeep issue or like new roof needed type reason why they are demoing it. Plus it will make a great revenue generating surface parking lot in the short term

should be that by the games I would say.

yah if cars can get there haha its already harder to get down there and its just barely any closures

a park would be great there though - if you're waiting for a show at the orpheum you could wander down there for a little rest

That is one small front door for the Alto condo.

As far as I know that Smithe/Richards corner is still slated for a park - I think it would make a good location for a one level underground parking garage under the park due to the slope of the hill. Not sure if there would be a lot of demand there, but they'd have to level out the site for a park anyways.

A parking lot there would certainly make the city some money. With the city sticking to it's limit of 35K spaces in the core the price pressures are only going to get much larger.
Heck with the upcoming demo of 745 Thurlow the core will be losing quite a few spaces as the new development will only have 331 spaces, not to mention all the additional demand that tower will create for parking. Whenever the Bay parkade is demoed it will probably result in another net loss for the city.
The city certainly needs to be better at mutli tasking it's properties, even if it results in parking under parks at least it's an improvement over the current single function. Plus anything the city can do to increase it's tax base is a bonus.

I've noticed metal or plastic rings being attached to lampposts downtown - presumably for the clear plastic garbage bags the City will be using during the Games.

^How long was the clock gone for? I definitely haven't seen it the last few times I went by there, but at the same time it didn't register in my mind that it was missing. Glad it is back and fully restored at any rate.
